Re: Reintroduction after an absence....

How am I? Well, a little lighter than I was before. A little calmer. I'm still a lousy shot except with my Kimber and my CZ-75B. Shaved my head, so I'm balder. My physical health is good. My mental health is always in question--especially by those who know me.

Reintroduction after an absence....

Contrary to rumors, I didn't die. I didn't run away to Ireland--though the temptation is great. I didn't fall off the end of the earth, though I think I passed close enough to see it. I am older, balder and, on the whole, pretty much the same person who dropped from sight. It has been an interesting...

Re: 04-March: This day in History

Actually, very soon after that. The Alien and Sedition Acts passed by Congress when John Adams was President would certainly now be considered clearly unconstitutional. The Federalists used those acts to shut down Jeffersonian newspapers. Of course, when Jefferson became President, he used the acts ...

Re: Stamped vs. Milled AK Receiver

I'm guessing not. Accuracy with any AK is iffy. The ergonomics are not very good for me and I seem to have tendencies rather than groups when I shoot. Mine has a stamped receiver and I don't think I would pay any more for a milled receiver. I have an AR15 I can shoot when I'm looking for more accura...

Re: Time to Shut Up, Suck It Up and Vote for McCain?

It seems to me the Republicans are doing what the Democrats have historically done--form a firing squad in a circle.

Re: Wood Question

I'm guessing that it wasn't the highest priority. After all, they weren't made for parades. Also, I think age and general usage doesn't help the appearance of wood much. For long guns made during wartime, the emphasis was on function. It was considered beautiful if it worked and if it killed the ene...

Re: Time to Shut Up, Suck It Up and Vote for McCain?

If conservatives sit on their hands out of dislike for McCain, they may very well be in a position to go to President Obama/Clinton and say, "We helped put you here because we didn't support McCain" and then ask for help on some issue. Should they decide to take that course, they risk faci...

Re: Marines not welcome in Berkeley

Wadero wrote:Recruiters are not welcome but I am willing to bet that an islamist group burning American flags and shouting anti-bush slogans would probably be welcomed and probably admired for their willingness to exercise their rights to free speech and assembly.

And that irks me beyond words.

Re: Marines not welcome in Berkeley

Years ago, when I lived in California, I would go to Berkeley occasionally. Best collection of bookstores I had ever seen. I remember when Berkeley was a marketplace of ideas. One could walk through campus and see tables set up by all sorts of organizations. I am sorry that they have, in their infin...

Re: Kel-Tec Sub2000

A few weeks ago, phorvick generously let me take some shots with it. I can vouch for the fact that it is both fun and quite accurate. Even though it looks like something that should shoot either Nerf balls or ping-pong balls, it shoots well and, to me, the ergonomics were pretty good. I look forward...

Re: The Next President (based on past elections)

Well, let's see. What executive governmental experience did George Bush Sr. have? Lyndon Johnson? Nixon (other than the post of Vice-President, which really doesn't count)? Kennedy? Truman? I don't know who will win. I don't think that one's experience either as a senator or as a governor will make ...
