Re: Australian police confiscate 328 guns

Among the 328 weapons were military-style automatic rifles, some of which were worth up to $50,000 each, and Glock handguns worth $10,000, police said. "Comments from Glock about the guns' reported values were impossible to discern over raucous laughter during a phone call. The company's spoke...

Re: NY gun confiscation

I'll handle this. ;) This is a hot topic over on arfcom. It's real. It is not , apparently . I called our good colleagues at the Rifle & Shotgun Section. They are well aware of the sh*tstorm this caused all over the web. This letter was sent to ONE person...for reasons involving his specific per...

Re: A novel approach to increased police accountability In Mpls.

the court claimed the reason for detention was not described narrowly enough.Tthis allowed the case to go to trial if so desired. It was no proof that the complainants would win. The city settled because they believed they were likely to lose and doing so was cheaper than losing. Minneapolis City A...

Re: A novel approach to increased police accountability In Mpls.

This idea is asinine. First, cops aren't like surgeons taking individual jobs, they're part of a corporate workforce. It would be inappropriate. There are simpler ways to stop this kind of BS. Second, in nearly all these civil rights suits the individual cops are immune as a matter of course and the...

Re: Cops in schools

The difference of course, is having schools that are ALL armed and thus not helpless victim zones, rather than the other way around. To be fair, most schools in Israel also have entry control systems like what we're used to seeing on county correctional facilities here. But it would be a good start...

Re: Dems vow passage of background check bill

"...the combination of public outrage at mass shootings and an animated advocacy front has created conditions like those that catalyzed the enactment of stricter gun laws roughly 20 years ago " You mean a wildly popular Democrat president and Democrat majorities in both chambers? "We...

Re: Gopher Bar Meetup #2 - Wed 11/20, 6-?pm

Notify the networks that I will be attending :) Geez, I haven't seen you in a dog's age. I think "Stand your Ground" 2011? I think the rally at the Capitol last January, actually. The parole board's been taking its sweet time I've just been extraordinarily busy lately. It'll be good t...

Re: BS Alert: Typhoon:gun culture of the Philippines hinders aid

Jeez. But there are few disaster zones in the world where nightfall is punctuated by the sound of gunfire and aid agency convoys need to wait for the army to restore a semblance of order before leaving their warehouses. Yeah. Places like that are hard to find in this world. Illegal guns are not just...

Re: Another reason to not live in California.

As anywhere, the majority of voters in CA probably have no clue about this and won't until (if) it's enacted or on the ballot. I'm sure that the assemblymen from less affluent Latino districts will be happy to carry the water for their moonbeam colleagues and explain to their constituents why they s...

Re: Shooting At Los Angeles Airport — TSA Agent Reportedly Shot

TSA has had an honor guard for some time. I'll take your word for it. They do have law enforcement special agents within TSA as well already - they're a common sight at Reagan National Airport near DC... but there are others throughout the country. This I know, but I'm sure you take my meaning that...

Wahaha. It's too much!

Just when you thought that they wouldn't, that they couldn't possibly get any more ridiculous in the wake of this thing: Gerardo Hernandez, Slain TSA Officer, Honored At LAX (PHOTOS) That is—no joke—a TSA honor guard. I know. I got some wine on my keyboard when I first saw it. I can't imagine anythi...

Re: Shooting At Los Angeles Airport — TSA Agent Reportedly Shot

I wonder if this is going to be used to push that TSA agents have full LEO status? They would have to restaff the entire officer population - they do not meet the standard for federal law enforcement officers in many MANY cases. b Short wait. TSA Union Wants To Arm Some Agents In Wake Of LAX Shooti...

Re: Please help — Making academic case for guns.

Thanks guys! And, yes, I am meeting some resistance, but nothing epic. My prof is pretty straightforward, although defiantly ignorant on the topic like a lot academia. The game if afoot ;) I'm curious your major and which school? I'm pursuing a Criminal Justice degree at Metro State University.

Please help — Making academic case for guns.

I'm commencing a serious research project as part of my major and have chosen as my subject the effects of lawful ownership of firearms by residents of Chicago—which trend is expected to grow dramatically in the next several years—on the rates of various Part I crimes within the city. Need and appre...
