Re: One of these gun's is not like the others

I cut it at final or close to it length and then measure there. I'd never measure the end and then consider it true.

Re: One of these gun's is not like the others

Had to look up what a range rod was - that'll allow for stacking tolerances. I measure off the OD if the bore diameter is concentric, and off the bore diameter itself if it's not. Since I don't turn tapered barrels, I don't use a spider. I also have too long of a head stock to do them easily and wou...

Re: SOTA Arms

It's not an issue of feed ramps - it's an issue of material left in the Stoner design after you hog out enough to get a x39 case head into the bolt face. http://www.ar15.com/archive/topic.html?b=3&f=121&t=516819 http://www.c3junkie.com/m16/762/all.jpg This exact problem is wh...

Re: SOTA Arms

Several posts on them here. Search

x39 AR's suffer from weak bolt geometry once the face has been relieved enough to fit the larger case head. This is a prime example of something which wasn't fully thought through.

Re: One of these gun's is not like the others

4 jaw dialed in to .0005. ;)

Just 11 degree crowned. The way the range officers come stock have about 3/16" sticking out and it looked goofy to me.

One of these gun's is not like the others

After threading two AR barrels today, I finally took care of something that was bugging me about the Range Officer as my hat trick.

Re: MOUNTED - The very first (sorta) 5.56 STD by FJ540

Is this a bull barrel? I can't think of any reason anyone would want those threads on that caliber.

Re: Outdoor targets

Paintballs will stain - but on a gun range who cares? I joke with kiddo about shooting his toys at 100yds. The looks he gives me are worth it - he knows I can hit them. ShootSteel.com gets another vote from me if using hard targets. Pop cans are a crowd pleaser as are fruits (talk to the produ...

Re: Gotta love the chinese knockoff's

Real ACOG's use the fiber optic filament to self illuminate, and then have a tritium backup for dark use. No batteries needed. That there's no illuminated reticle on the fake is why it was originally so funny to me.

Also notice the reflex sight doesn't exist, yet is still molded there anyway.

Re: Safe Queens - Loaner Forum

I'm down.

But there's the current problem of ammo availability to overcome.

So Scratch wants to shoot 300blk - no biggie for me, but is he going to shoot up my ammo? I don't reload so others can mag dump it. ;)

Re: Looking to do my first Ar build

I'm not a fan of bobergs. They didn't bring anything to the table which wasn't already better served by other options. As was mentioned, they also don't fit well with the uppers I've seen. The machining is quite lazy as well - the design was made for expedient production rather than any kind of aest...
