FWIW, I looked into this a while back and just bought a M&P 15-22. The entire thing was cheaper than a good 22LR upper.

They stopped selling AR's years ago and are just getting some free publicity.

I'm jealous. I'm still building my 300blk pistol. Need to save my pennies and get parts one at a time. Then I'll need a chrono to help work up loads.

This! If they want to look for reloads, that's fine (but dumb). They shouldn't be preventing you from bringing factory ammo. They certainly shouldn't have messed with her gun over her objections.
