DNR Confiscated Gun Auction

I realize there isn't an auction scheduled, and it doesn't look like they run it until the spring but I'd like to hear from those of you who have attended one of these events. Are there good deals at the auction? Is it primarily the former owners buying back his/her gun? I'd like to attend the next ...

If it's a problem that I don't have the tools or ability to fix on my own, does anyone have a suggestion on where to take it to diagnose/fix in the northern suburbs?

Thanks....this website is awesome

Re: BCG Staking

Thanks for all the input....it is much appreciated. I'll start with what sounds to be the more likely culprits and work my way down the list, while breaking in the rifle to see if it improves. I was using PMags but I didn't think to watch if one worked better than the other. Maybe I'll try a differe...

Re: BCG Staking

Thanks for the feedback. It's frustrating but it's kind of fun getting to know my rifle better

I don't have a torque wrench to confirm they are at the appropriate torque setting, looks like 40-55 inch/lbs recommended online. Is a firm torque by hand sufficient for these screws?

Thanks!

BCG Staking

Hello! I brought my newly assembled AR to the field and I had some issues with 'short stroking'. I'm going through the list of culprits I dug up online and I'm questioning if my BCG is adequately staked. It's a Stag Arms chrome BCG. Any recommendations on where to get it restaked if you think it nee...

Re: Dry gun vs Wet gun?

Thanks for the responses....he was so confident about it he almost convinced me. I should have asked for some sources to back up his claims. I figured he knew something I didn't since he makes his living in the business and I am somewhat of a novice. When I got home I tried to search for information...

Dry gun vs Wet gun?

I spoke to a guy the other day who said that he never cleans his Glock or his Keltec and he said that it is better for the gun. He said that cleaning them adheres the impurities to the barrel. He has at least 3000 rounds through the Glock without a cleaning. He said that there are 'dry guns' and 'we...
