Re: First 1911 - revisited...

Found this one online from a trusted source. I didn't get a bargain on it, but I was willing to pay for what I wanted... There are a few Dan Wessons on Gunbroker at the moment.

First 1911 - revisited...

Well, after scouring the internet for a few weeks and many trips to the range to establish a wantlist, I stumbled across this setup and pulled the trigger... Been twice to the range thus far and am in love... Dan Wesson PM-9 in 9mm with 6 Wilson Combat mags, mag well, and ambi safety. Barely used, t...

Re: Best gun shops in the Twin Cities?

Kevin at DKmags is a good guy as well, he just brokered a deal for me to a customer he had looking for a gun I was getting rid of. He will also check around and see what he can get for you...

Re: WM ammo observations

Yep, I've been buying both WWB .45 and federal Champion .45 at my local Walmarts for the last two weeks. 9mm galore, always the .40, but haven't seen the .380 yet, which is good or I might have to buy one... (a new pistol, that is)
15.97 for the federal .45 is a great way to stock up on brass...

Always makes for a fun day at the range...

I'll admit it, i'm nosy. When I'm at the range, I always want to know what other folks are shooting. Breaking in the new SR9c today, a husband and wife (I assume so by the way they bickered) were blasting away next to me. I saw their .410 judge sitting there and asked how she liked it. "You wan...

Re: Ruger SR9?

Got the Sr9c in today. Put 50 rounds through it right away. The extended mag would hang up the trigger. Maybe needs more break in. The standard 10rd mag functioned flawlessly. It's not my CZ 75, but it does the trick. I like the feel of it, put on the mag pinky extension for a better feel, and rever...

Re: Shops other than Gunstop

Yeah folks, like I said, it was no big deal. I know nothing about reloading so i was just looking at what it would take to get in to it. I've read most of the stuff on the forum and have the ABC's of reloading coming in the mail today. It seems as though people have read too much into my initial sta...

Re: Shops other than Gunstop

Maybe it was the suit I was wearing since I'd just done a funeral at Fort Snelling. And thanks for assuming I'm a bad customer whoever said that. Actually, kinda funny. In my line of work, we call those folks EGR's. Extra Grace Required. I'm not that guy. Either way, I couldn't even get to the point...

Shops other than Gunstop

So, Gunstop treats you rudely and you don't want to give them business. (must be family thing, my dad had the same experience) Where are you spending your money for reloading supplies? I should clarify, this was just the guy on the reloading side. The gun side guys were great... I love to keep it lo...

Re: First 1911?

Went to Frontiersman and Bill's today. Handled a bunch of guns. Like the Kimbers and the Springfield loaded. Also the Para Big Hawg or whatever with its 14+1. Not for the capacity necessarily, but I'm 6'8" and have large hands, so the double stack grip was a good fit. I honestly can't bring mys...

Re: First 1911?

What's your budget? One man's major purchase is another man's pocket change. What's your intended use? Carry gun? Range gun? Gun games? Perhaps this gun needs to play multiple roles for you. It makes a difference. In general, a Springfield Loaded or a Kimber Custom II are nice 1911s that will serve...

First 1911?

Hey all, I'm looking for some input on getting in to the 1911 market. I'm married, so I can't go nuts on the piece, but looking for a reasonable entry point and a decent place to purchase one. Seems like lots of places online are out of stock, and I don't like getting worked over on pricing...

Re: Gander Mountain Price Match (Rude)

Got a used (barely) Sig Mosquito at GM in Blaine for $250. Had a real nice experience with the guys there. Cabela's tries to sell used Mosquitos for $419. New is $400. Cabela's used guns are all overpriced and I told the guy last time I was there. But, yeah, that was the only deal in the gun section...
