Re: Gun & Knife Show, Anoka Armory, Apr 9-10

Only reason I usually make it to the Anoka show is that it's close enough to my house that I can walk (admittedly, it's a long walk but still doable) to go there that way Complete waste otherwise and yes, like all the Crocodile shows in the metro area, it's pretty much the same dealers with the same...

Re: Mel's sport shop in spicer

I've been past that place several times and have always been in too much of a hurry or it's a day/time when I figure the gunshop part of the place wouldn't be open. Should make a trip just to stop in. I've travelled farther for poorer reasons. Good to hear a positive review, makes it easier to talk ...

Re: Any Colt black powder experts on here?

I'm no expert. I've seen people refer to at least some of the models Colt offered in the signature series as "3rd Generation". The explanation apparently being that the originals were 1st Gen, the repros they offered in the 1970s were 2nd Gen and then these signature series repros from th...

Re: 500 S&W takes down tree

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fA9nTNelQ6o Real? Staged? Practical joke? Tree was already rotten? Tree was already 7/8 of the way shot through? (there were a lot of holes in that target backer and a fair number in the targets attached to it when it was picked up off the ground at the end of the vi...

Re: STRIB Colorado recall results coverage this morning

We get the Sunday edition delivered. For the comics, the coupons, but mostly so we've got something to to put around the litter box for when our arthritic 19-y.o. geriatri cat can't get her joints to bend enough to keep the pee stream inside the box. Most appropriate use I can think of for that rag ...

Re: HK Sporting Rifle

Anyone here fortunate enough to own any of these marvelous rifles? HK has made a number of models/series that could fit that description. Since you didn't elaborate, here's my HK940: http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q201/Molasses_photos/Toys/PHOT0115.jpg At one time the HK 630/770...

Re: Federal Ammo Backlog & Shortages

so instead, they're running the people and machines they have already in a 24x7x365 basis. Yawn. Most of the production areas of the plant have been running on a 24/7 schedule for something like the last two and a half years (or is it three and a half? Time flies). For the previous few years before...

Re: Bullet size?? Colt Black powder Signature series 1851

While there is almost certainly the exception out there that will prove the rule, standard size round ball out of a .36 C&B revolver is .375" That size will usually shave off a thin ring or sliver of lead as it's forced into the cylinder. This is a normal and desired result, as having the b...

Re: Snowshoe Hares...wheres?

I shot one last week up near Baudette but I doubt that you want to travel that far for 'em. I have to admit, successful hare hunts can get addicting. I didn't travel that far this time, but I didn't see anything. Well, there were tracks. No tracks fresh enough to have bunnies standing in them. I di...

Re: Snowshoe Hares...wheres?

Thanks for the tips and ideas, folks. I'm going to be spending part of the remainder of the evening looking at maps and such to try and determine just where I want to go, and if things work out, I'll head up nort' tomorrow for a day's hunting.

Re: Snowshoe Hares...wheres?

I saw one up by Longville over New Years. We regularly see them up there...just not while hunting them! Heh. Well, that's why it's called hunting and not just "getting". Speaking for myself I know I always do a lot of hunting for what little I get when I head out. It recently hit me...

Snowshoe Hares...wheres?

Just how far north in this state does one have to go to stand a realistic chance of a successful hunt for said big bunnies?

Re: STI Spartan IV 9mm

Has anybody seen one, or something similar locally? The wifey wants a 1911 of her own. You might try contacting that Bullseye range and storage outfit up by Harris; I believe they've had Spartans in there every time I've been in the place, although I dunno about the exact version you're looking for.
