Re: 1,102 people were denied purchase of gun during first month

Poor analogy. The law that went into affect on July 1 stated that one must wait 30 days between gun purchases. Period. It did not say "starting July 1 there will be a waiting period of 30 days between purchases." Therefore, the new law covers the 30 days prior to July 1 in addition to the ...

Re: 1,102 people were denied purchase of gun during first month

The state did not make the law "retroactive" from what I can tell. The law reads (to paraphrase) one is limited to a single gun in any thirty day period. As the law went into affect July 1, the law would extend to the thirty days previous as well as thirty days forward. It is not a "o...

Re: Below The Radar: Background Check Completion Act of 2020

We won't complete the sale of a firearm until a "Proceed" response is given by the FBI. Not sure how true, but I was told this was due to a ruling/decision that shifted the responsibility to the seller to retrieve the firearm in the event a "Denied" response came back after 3 day...

Re: Minneapolis police tell residents to obey criminals

Since the PD's Public Relations section has been disbanded and taken over by the City Council's staff, that message was as close as the chief could get to warning the citizenry regarding the future. It is probably the last time we will see a live message from this or any other chief unless the Counc...

Re: 50 Cal unleashed!

As mentioned, smokeless powder is a propellant, not an explosive. Smokeless powder needs pressure to burn correctly so if the cartridge is not in a chamber, nothing much will happen. The idea a cartridge will "blow up" or "explode" is nothing more than a Hollywood myth. The video...

Re: Nearly 200 Officers Apply to Leave Minneapolis Police Force

Didn’t know you had to apply to quit. Or is that a workers comp thing? Workers Comp is totally separate from retirement, they have nothing to do with each other. Workers Comp is an insurance payout taken out on the employee by the employer (which is not taxed and is limited in duration) while retir...

Track of the Wolf just west of Elk River off Hwy 10 has it too. They specialize in black powder firearms.

Re: I'm back.....swagger tool: Stand Alone? Or Die?

I used an RCBS pocket swager for several years with good results. I also use a handheld crimp remover when a piece of brass sneaks by. Not long ago I set up an old C press with a pocket swager and it works well too. Maybe we'll enough that it will replace the RCBS as my primary tool. I'll keep the R...

MEC 9000 20 ga

I have an extra, brand new, unopened box 20 ga MEC 9000 on hand. I doubt anyone wants to see pictures of the box but one can see the press and whatever accessories come with at the MEC website. Asking $350/ or make reasonable offer (new they seem to run in the high $500 range) or will possibly trade...

Re: Wolf or Coyote?

Dead ringer for the male coyote I shot in the backyard a year ago. He and his girlfriend thought they would serenade us but I didn't like the tune. He was a little over 40# and colored just like that one. Probably related someplace as the picture and the one I shot were about 7 miles apart. The wolv...

Re: Shooters World Powder?

Shooter's World powders are made by Explosia of the Czech Republic who sells in the European market under the name Lovex. At least that is what is stated in the Shooter's World website in at least the loading data section. There is also a cross reference shown between the the "American" de...

Re: Permit to transfer?

Thanks for the clarification. The question went up the management chain to the corporate compliance/legal staff and what I posted was their explanation to us. I'll look at the statutes and bring copies in to see if there was some confusion or a breakdown in communication along the way. It appears wh...

Re: Permit to transfer?

As it was explained to me, that portion is meant for transfers between FFLs or from private party to an FFL for purchases. I can't state that unreservedly but that is what came down to us from those most high when such forms began to show up at the store in place of the more usual permit to purchase...

Re: Forster 6mm BR Full Length Resizing Die Pissing Me Off

Try contacting whomever your wife bought the pot from and see if they can get a copy of the receipt. If a credit or debit card was used, the seller should be able to back track to the original purchase using the credit card number. If your wife forgot where she bought it, the card company or bank sh...

Re: Historic Spike In Gun Sales After The Coronavirus Hit

I like how the article describes the current gun buyers as "preppers". My experience over the last month has been far from that. There have been a very small percentage who claimed they weren't buying a firearm through fear of a societal breakdown but were buying as they were afraid the pr...
