Re: Democrats’ ‘Assault Weapons’ Ban Prohibits Pistols Too

5 round limit on a fixed magazine shotgun? Doesn't the Mossberg 500 hold 6 in the mag? I know my old Remington Model 10 held 6 in the mag. Glad I sold them long ago. I'm pretty sure the Mossberg 835 held 6 rounds of 2 3/4" shells in the mag if the plug was removed. Other 3.5" chambered gu...

Re: Magnum bolt action rifle thread.

I have the Vangard but with a synthetic stock rather than wood. The rifle does have more recoil than the 308 Vangard but it wasn't objectionable. I found the factory loads I used to be more than adequate for accuracy (mostly Weatherby branded with 180 gr Interlocks) but it really shines with a max l...

Re: What's with the skunks?

Not sure where my second post disappeared to, my iPad has been sending them into Never Never Land on occasion. As to where I've been seeing skunks, it is all over from Blaine/ Ham Lake to the Wisconsin border plus northern Pine County and southern Carlton Co. Just today I dispatched a family of 4 in...

What's with the skunks?

In the last couple weeks I've seen well over a dozen skunks wandering around in broad daylight. This is not evening or early morning but from 10 AM to about 4 PM. Twice it was a family group which I can understand but the others were singles, mostly adults. This has occurred in various places rangin...

Re: Uvalde Cops Reportedly Tried To Silence the Mom Who Rescued

Pretty sure every fire truck across the country carries a universal key that opens most door locks. They do, but forcible entry tools work best on wood framed residential doors. Steel framed commercial doors set into concrete block walls are much harder to force open, it can take several minutes. I...

Re: Uvalde Cops Reportedly Tried To Silence the Mom Who Rescued

This incident is becoming more curiouser, and curiouser with every bit of new information. Among other things worth learning, is why no one in the school district Police dept had keys to anything, and had to rely on the school custodian for access to the classrooms. Pretty sure every fire truck acr...

Re: Video Shows Student Robbed at Gunpoint Inside High School

In the article everyone sounds so shocked that this could happen. Obviously they've been living under a rock for the last few years. I challenge anyone who thinks this is an unusual occurrence to watch a few hours of school security or bus camera footage. It will change their minds. That video woul...

Re: Carry badge can be useful......

Off hand, I can recall seeing three people carrying such badges on their belt when I've been out and about. I've run into maybe a dozen when I was selling guns. Most of the latter thought it was a valid substitute for a PTC or PTP when trying to purchase a firearm and weren't appreciative when told ...

Re: Whcih local stores have a good selection of pistol red dots?

I've been to a couple of Fleet Farms and have picked up Holosun, Trijicon, SiG, Vortex, and Leupold. I already had a Burris but FF had them too. I can't remember what all bottom end sights they had but Tru-Glo, Sightmark, and Bushnell come to mind.

Re: How AI-powered tech landed man in jail with scant evidence

When Williams says it's not fair to use that type of technology against him, it sounds almost like a confession. He probably should have let his lawyer do the interview for him. Now, Williams might be facing closer scrutiny based on that comment.

Re: Famous long-range shot: Battle of Adobe Walls

I have a copy of Billy Dixon's (auto)biography. I'm not sure what to call it as it was a written account of Billy's words by Billy's wife. He gave this shot maybe three sentences in his telling of the story, almost as much was given towards the Indians who ran back to drag the fallen Indian to safet...

Re: Home invasion, yet another childhood pastime

I wonder why the Orono chief is making comments to the press when the crimes occurred in Mound and Minnetrista which have their own police departments? That is not the norm. I can't see a lot of assistance being given by Orono either, it isn't a large department with a substantial investigative staf...

Re: Minneapolis neighborhood plans to pay for extra police

The "extra" police service the residents are paying for will be the norm beginning the first shift this implimented as the city will reassign the "normal" resources to other areas - whether that be personnel or finances. I don't see this as working out for the residents as they h...
