Re: What makes shooting relevant - to YOU?

Shooting takes me back to my youth which was a happy, secure time. My dad hunted to put some meat on the table, mostly pheasants. But I've alway appreciated guns and studied ballistic tables that used to included in the manufacturer's catalogs (i.e Winchester) while other boys collected baseball car...

Re: Whats your favorite handgun you've owned?

I see almost everyone has listed centerfires, but my favorite handgun is my Ruger Single-Six followed closely by the round butted S&W model 34 kit gun. I grew up in the country and had the Ruger with me all the time, whether in the field or around the farm. Its grip just feels at home in my hand...

Re: What is a.17 HMR really and is it better than 22lr or 22WMR?

Or buy my LNIB CZ 455 American (listed in the ads here) in .17HMR for $375 and no sales tax but with ammo and boresnake. With the 455 you can add a .22 LR barrel for $129 from CZ-USA and have both rifles. In fact, you can get a barrel in .22 WMR for the same rifle as well.

Re: New Marlin 795 Bolt is Nasty lookin' - advice pls

I have one. Shot a 3/4" five shot group with a cheap 4X scope at 50 yds. with bulk Fed. 36 gr. HP's first time to the range. I have not taken mine out of the stock and won't now cuz I don't want to see if it looks like yours. ;) But I had to pay more than $99 for mine at Scheels last fall.

Re: any miracle shots out there?

If one shoots enough, over time he'll make some amazing shots just based on percentages. One I remember happened one August day in the '60's (yeah, a long time ago). I was plowing govt. ground/set aside acres which had been seeded with oats. We couldn't harvest the oats but could plow it under as &q...

Utah Official Gun

I find that Utah adding the Browning 1911 as its official state gun is interesting. Wonder what MN's would be?

Re: MidwayUSA--Wow!

When I watch their sponsored shows on TV and listen to Larry P., owner and CEO, I get the impression that he is an honest, straight-shooter. Have you found that to be the case? My orders have been very fast via cheapest method of shipment as well. I never mind spending money when it goes to a compan...

Re: today is a good day....

Thank you very much, RobD. I have taken the CCW course 2 times (first time the original law was challenged so had to retake when license came up for renewal) and don't recall being told that. Still, I should have checked it out. I will run a copy for my future use. A supervisor I used to work with a...

Re: today is a good day....

Comcast Cable, all banks, several other businesses where I need to go to pay bills have signs posted. I'm not talking about the hardware store, grocery store, etc. Just wondering.

Re: today is a good day....

Congrats. So how are you going to handle the situation when you are carrying, the car is blocks away in a ramp, and the business you need to enter says "No guns allowed on premises"? Just wondering as I find myself in that situation sometimes.

Re: Won a rifle

Thanks for the link, Mac. Cor-Bon looks like it would be effective. I traded the free rifle for the LCP. Why? Because I will carry it more than I would shoot the .357 right now. In fact, I'm going for a walk in a few minutes and will carry it for the first time. Hope no buck deer makes a move toward...

Re: Remington Under Fire: A CNBC Investigation (8pm Oct 20th)

I watched this tonight and it is the first time I have heard of Rem 700's having a problem. I have owned several over the past 50 years and never had one fire unless I pulled the trigger. Evidently, however, it not uncommon according to the investigation. Walker himself has suggested a redesign for ...

Re: Won a rifle

I have a Single Six Ruger if that qualifies as a wheel gun, but assume you mean a "big guy" gun. I'm leaning towards the Ruger LCP based on the carry theory of "better a little one than nothing at all." (for you young guys, I am talking about guns here, nothing else) Do any of yo...
