Re: Incident in Nevada

Dave Goodman. He was on my range last spring as an additional instructor. Great guy, did a bang-up job.

We had Wayatt Radich as a Range Master last spring. He was also great.

Re: Incident in Nevada

Front Sight runs both a cold range and a limited hot range for the basic course (4 Day Defensive Handgun). I never heard them say anything about a loaded BUG, but I would have to assume that they wouldn't allow it. They allow complete beginners on the range so they are pretty strict about gun handli...

Re: Incident in Nevada

Our Range Officer at Front Sight said, "We want your guns to be in the holster on your belt when you arrive on the property. We don't want anyone touching their gun after they arrive until they're on the range under the direction of the Range Officer." This presents a quandry. If you open ...

Re: Why no love for the Beretta 92?

I have a 92FS and I DO love it. Sure, the DA/SA decocker thing is more overhead than my Glocks, but that's more a matter of practice than anything. Good sights, low felt recoil... what's not to like? I'm not planning to carry it, but I'm planning to try it at the next steel shoot and probably IDPA t...

Re: For all of you Paupers who want to go to Frontsight

You actually can pick up brass and loaded rounds (from malfunction clearing practice) during the breaks. However the breaks are pretty short and you've got other things on your mind - toilet, water, resting, loading mags.... You can't pick up anything when the line is hot, including your mags. They ...

Re: For all of you Paupers who want to go to Frontsight

I'll second what Benny said. I was there for the same class in April with 4 friends, and it was nothing short of phenomenal. As we were leaving we were discussing how soon we could come back. All of us learned a lot even though we had widely varying experience. Almost the whole time is spent on the ...

Re: IMR 8208 XBR

He's using 50 gr. Nosler ballistic tips with approximately 25 gr. of Benchmark and 8208 (.6 to 1.0 grain under Hodgdon published maximum loading for both powders) OAL of 1.30" to 1.40" and using R-P commercial brass (NOT military) with Rem. 7-1/2 primers.

Re: You know you want one

Maybe we'll see it at the next steel shoot with a red-dot on top and an open front holster.

Re: IMR 8208 XBR

forcefed - I asked my brother which model he's shooting and he said, "It's a Savage 16FLHSS 16: left-hand, short action stainless steel, synthetic stock, accustock, accutrigger, no sights, hinged floorplate (like a 700BDL). The right-hand version is a 16 FHSS."

Re: IMR 8208 XBR

Oh NO! Does he own the flies???

In truth I didn't pull any permits nor did I get the (probably) required varmint license. I just shoot the little buggers.

Re: IMR 8208 XBR

Tacks are expensive and you have to keep sticking new ones up when you shoot them. I prefer to shoot the flies that land on the target.

IMR 8208 XBR

Anybody try out IMR 8208 XBR yet? My brother has been loading it in a new Savage 223 that he bought for his son to use for PDs and he's getting 3/8" 100yd groups with it.

Re: Quick and Cheap Target Frames

Thanks. Using screw eyes sounds like a good idea. I had thought of drilling a hole on the bottom of the leg from the top about 1/4" and using a spike, but I haven't tried that yet.

Quick and Cheap Target Frames

On Saturday my sweet wife said "Let's go out to the range on Sunday, I want to try your 44 Mag revolver." Now that's a request that you have to pay attention to! :D In preparing for this momentous event I decided we needed some target frames for 24"x36" LE style targets since GCC...
