Re: "Urban jungle" single action... your thoughts ???

Just a question for you guys who carry mag-sized wheel guns (realizing that it IS a basic law of testosterone that bigger is better). For self-defense applications, do you worry about pass-through and what's behind your target with the bigger calibers? This is NOT to spark more controversy (see my q...

Re: How do you carry spare mags

HOLY COW!!! My intent was not to start a firestorm of controversy about whether or not you must CONCEAL and cary. I guess I was asking more of how do people who choose to conceal their handgun also conceal their mags (if they choose to). I do realize that you don't have to conceal here in MN but I ...

How do you carry spare mags

I figured this was the best place to post this (vs. the accessories board). If not, feel free to move it. I'm wondering, how people like to carry their spare mags when they C&C? I'm mainly wondering if you're carrying a compact ... say something like a M&P Compact, XD 4", or something s...

Guns which can fire without the mag

Hi All, Just wondering if there's a list of guns which can fire without the mag inserted. It doesn't usually show on the specs of most guns I've seen but it'd be nice to know of a list, if it's available somewhere, for folks who are looking for a defense gun that can fire without the mag. If someone...

Re: I want a new gun

My $0.02 ... I've looked at everything from the M&P, XD, 1911's in 9mm, & Sig. I found, for MY hands, the best feeling 9mm is the CZ 75B series. They feel really good in my hand. I'd say as good or better as the others that I've tried & they're cheap. All that I've read on them is good a...

The P3AT &/or P-11 as a BUG

Do people have experience with the P3AT's & P-11's. I've seen some people say that they're great and haven't had problems and others sound like they think they're a pile. Do people out there have experience with these two and know if the P-11 in particular is what you would call reliable?

Re: Yet more questions re: 1911's

I think that when they come out with a 1911 in 9mm - Heck I may even bite. I remember reading they were going to do that. I thought they had one in 38 super coming too. I wonder if they are still coming or not? DeanC ... Where did you read that? I'm especially interested if they'd come out with a 9...

Yet more questions re: 1911's

Hi All, Say you've got $500 (please read this to say that saving another couple of months is not an option). You want to get a 1911 for target practice (9 mm, .40, or .45 acp) but you're limited to $500. Cost to shoot will also be an issue. I can buy used or new but the $500 includes tax. Also, upgr...

DA/SA vs. DAO for Conceal Guns

Hi All, As usual, I'm looking for your opinions on Double Action / Single Action (DA/SA) vs. Double Action Only (DAO) for a conceal gun. You 1911 guys are welcome to chime in as well. If possible, I'd like to hear data (if you have it) or anecdotal evidence for why you your action is better overall ...

Your $0.02 ... Concealing a Compact

Hi all, I'm looking your input for a holster to best conceal a compact-sized semi-auto [roughly a 4" barrel like an XD compact, commander-size 1911, M&P compact, etc.] and I'm interested in your suggestions. I want something that really secures it so I don't have to worry about loosing it a...

Re: Some basic 1911 questions for a 1911 Newbie

Seriuosly, I'm not trying to make this the endless post but the more I think about this, the more questions I have. 6) Does anyone have opinions on Para Ordianance? I'm curious about these 1911's in comparison with the Taurus, Springfield, or STI (although they look a little too pricey for what I'll...
