WTS: RCBS Pro Chucker 7 Progressive Press with Extras

I am looking to sell a lightly used RCBS Pro Chucker 7 progressive press. I picked it up new a couple of years ago but haven't used it for more than brass processing (depriming and resizing) since then. I would like to thin down the equipment herd in my gun room. For sale is the press with the follo...

Re: Beginning of the End for Brass Cases?

This line from the article seemed questionable to me - anybody able to attest to the accuracy of this statement? Why wouldn't you be able to adjust the internal geometry of a brass case? With a brass cartridge case, "you can't do anything to change the interior geometry," Hogan said. To e...

Re: Anti 2A commercials

I have lost access to my Gmail (cannot keep all the password I have straight). In addition to the one time company matched donation, I am setting an ongoing payroll deduction, also matched, to the Minnesota Gun Owners Support Fund. I would encourage others to do the same. Are there big money sources...

Re: Building a dedicated 22 upper

TACCOM is a pretty good source for reasonable dedicated barrels and they include the rimfire collar that replaces the cartridge adapter. TACCOM does not seem to sell anything 22LR anymore. Interesting. I literally just bought an 8" 22LR barrel from them in the middle of January. I would contac...

Re: Building a dedicated 22 upper

If you're building a dedicated upper for rimfire, I would highly recommend a 22LR specific barrel. Not only will the twist rate be correct for the projectiles but a dedicated barrel will have the correct chamber/collar that will mate to your conversion bolt. With a 5.56-style chamber, your conversio...

Re: Savage msr 224 valkyrie

didn't ask a question.... just showing what junk mags do is all. First time I've ever seen a primer blowout, and a mag do that to the bullet on feeding. Primers typically blow out under high pressure conditions, either a tight chamber or higher powder charge (or a combination of both). Unless the n...

Interesting. I think I read that they had tried 1:6, 1:6.5, and 1:7 twists and saw similar performance.

So the same then. Odd.

Whatever issue they're are seeing is likely not related to twist.

Accuracy shown with the demo guns and factory 90gr GM rounds that have been featured in social media was very good.

Re: Savage msr 224 valkyrie

Almost exactly a year ago, while doing some seasonal work day tasks at the range, I spotted my first LabRadar in use. During a break, I approached the shooters using it; a couple of guys who worked for Federal testing a new cartridge. I was a bit pressed for time, and more interested in the LabRada...

Re: Savage msr 224 valkyrie

Thought all the testing were done with 24 inch barrels. From all the hype of the 90 gr doing over 1300 fps past 1000 yards, all the video's and stories stated 24 inch barrel. Post some pics when you get it together. Am curious how yours shoots. Are you able to shoot 1000 yards to test it out? Maybe...

Re: .224 Valkyrie? Any insight?

I'm a big SBR fan so I started running some numbers for the 224 Valkyrie. If we assume the Valkyrie will lose 50 fps per inch of barrel, then the 90gr FGMM load will be running around 2100 fps out of a 12" barrel. I'll use one of my 12.5" guns for comparison. That upper will run Mk262 clon...

Re: .224 Valkyrie? Any insight?

Not much said at SHOT about the 224. So far only 4 manufactures I have seen is making uppers or complete rifles. Maybe they ran their mouths off before they thoroughly tested it and found something. I will wait awhile and see what happens. Wrapped my money up on another toy anyways so will have to ...

Re: .224 Valkyrie? Any insight?

It's a 6.8 case that has been necked down to .22 caliber. The shoulder has been pushed back to allow for the loading of long, high-BC bullets (i.e. the 90gr SMK in the factory Gold Medal load). The round is designed to run in small-frame ARs with the At the advertised 2700 fps, the 90gr SMK has pret...

Re: Reloading the 300 Blackout.

I've had good luck with Speer 125gr TNT bullets with Alliant Power Pro 300-MP. I have been able to get just under 1 MOA with the 125gr SMK's that were designed for 300 BLK.
