Re: Magnum primers for regular loads?

I have been reloading for many many years, but everyone has room for learning and the use of Magnum primers is not an area I have concerned myself with, since I never used them for anything but .44 mags. Now I have the base info. for using them safely and I will start at 20% less on all but the 44 m...

Magnum primers for regular loads?

Anyone have any interesting stories or seasoned recommendations for using, or not using, [Magnum Large Pistol Primers], for [Regular Large Pistol] loads? I see the same subject was brought up here on [Magnum Small Pistol Primers] and " start low, and work up to maybe 10 % less on your loads? &q...

Re: Large pistol primers

I bought several boxes of Mag Large Pistol primers at Gander MT in Lakeville. They had a pretty good supply Tuesday and said no one was rushing to buy them out, but I would still call first. Since reduced loads information says it is OK to use them for std loads, I'm going for it. Oh ya one catch, t...

WTB 45/70 brass

Interested in any 45/70 brass. Used or new, if the price is right. Just looking for a few hundred empties, so any amount you want to sell is fine. Dirty or clean, Old or new. Just trying to save a buck, since everything went through the roof lately, just as I wanted to start to reload this cal. Than...

Re: Cigar Night @ Little Havana in Anoka

Is there ever one of these South of the river, like Burnsville or Even a little south like Bloomington??
Or is smoke in the air, as a result of a fine smoldering stogie, not allowed anywhere South.? Just asking.

Re: Is it safe to shoot .452 bullets in 45acp?

I might suggest useing a brass rod to drive the slug thru the barrel, I have seen wooden ones break and possibly cause injuries or jamb the wooden rod in the barrel. I used a curtain rod with an empty brass casing over the end once and it worked fine and was cheaper than the brass rod of that lengt...

Re: Is it safe to shoot .452 bullets in 45acp?

Well i fired 50 of my new rounds as well as 20 factory rounds to compare and i couldnt tell any differance between the 2 when shooting. Accuracy was great and cycling was 100% so needless to say I was impressed. Ive never heard of the term slugging a barrel so I just might have to try it to my spri...

Re: Is it safe to shoot .452 bullets in 45acp?

Have you slugged your barrel? The .452 might even be more suited than the .451. Since the guy is admitted "new' to this loading thing. And not shy about asking question, as some are, please explain "Slugged" when referring to his barrel. It is a great test of ones gun bbl, an d It wi...

Re: Is it safe to shoot .452 bullets in 45acp?

Wow, is this place full of Brain cells/experience. I have found a new time passer, just reading these threads. I shoot alot of Ruger Black powder .45's and it has a loading piston under the bbl that pushes a round ball into each cylinder. This results in a nice, full circle saved band of lead, and a...
