In the winter, shooting outdoors, I use Mobil 1 and have never had any problems. Summer, I use my own patented blend of 50/50 ATF and engine assembly lube. Very clingy, lasts a long time on parts and guns in storage. Which I guess what engine assembly lube was designed to do. I agree with the...
Seriously, I sell guns all of the time. I don't have enough money or storage for all of them. If one of them falls out of favor, wasn't what I expected, is eclipsed by something else, or I upgrade, off it goes. I regret one pistol that I gave up, everything else is fine.
I've also shot thousands of the coated bullets from 'blackbullets'. Very nice, no smoke, accurate as anything. I've been shooting plain lead lately, though, and also will try to coat my own.
I've got the cheap Sightmark on a Ruger MkIII. Had it for about a year or so?? Works fine if the sun isn't shining on you, then it washes out and you can't see the dot. Works OK for the price, hardly weighs anything.
I also use the used dryer sheets to get some of the dirt out, but I bought a 40# sack of corncob blast media at Grainger a few years ago. I've still got over half of it, so I don't sweat it when I dump it out and start fresh.
Here's another trick of mine. If you have bore brushes in several different sizes, when they 'wear out' for one size, lots of times they will be fine for the next size down. Example, a worn out .40 cal brush works great on 9mm, then it works on 8mm, then .30 cal....you get the idea. When I'm done wi...
Really only one that I wish I had back. I buy guns cause I like them, and sell them when I find something I like more. Some things I don't shoot, but I can't sell because it would be soooooo hard to find another one if I change my mind.
Another vote for Safe and Knife in Rogers. They have a big selection, reasonable prices, and are pleasant to deal with. Do yourself another favor-if you're not moving it yourself, get Ruth's Piano Movers to move it for you. No dollies or other devices, just very strong guys, they pick it up and put ...
I never had those bushings throw what they should, according to the chart. I trust my scale, more than the Lee chart. You do need some check weights, though, so you can have confidence in your scale.
I am not an Enfield expert, but I've had a few pass through my hands. Looks like a No 1 Enfield rifle that has been sporterized, stock is cut down, non military sling swivel on the front, all the front hardware missing. If the bore is good, I suppose it could be a candidate for restoration, but as i...
Don't need to smoke either aluminum or steel. Get the mold clean, clean, clean, lube the top of the mold very lightly with sprue plate lube, and cast. It helps to heat your mold on a hotplate or dip a corner of the mold in the melt for a bit to heat it up before starting to cast. It may take a bit t...
Essentially the same as the RCBS, just loosen that locknut, pull out the measure and dump. I usually have to work the lever 4-5 times to get any residual powder out, but takes almost no time.
