Re: Assessing hand guns

@ Ahrens The p238 has the pocket option that I like - do you have a pocket holster? Ya I'd get 3 or 4 mags right away, I'm not all that interested in off brands or aftermarket mags - sounds like a problem ready to happen. I shot several 38sp revolvers - looking for a pocket or concealable - Not what...

Re: Assessing hand guns

No need to try "some" .380's ... jest one ... Sig P238. Except one ... I think they call it the "HD" ... its frame is steel ( all the rest are aluminum ) that adds a few ounces ... still a purdy light gun. P238 bridges the gap 'tween P3-AT and PPK ... PPK's too big/heavy for the...

Ahrens, Which one do you have ( you probably have two ..) the pretty one or which design? There are a few -

Re: Assessing hand guns

To Ahrens - Yes my tall friend - I was talking about you.

I shot a bunch of 9's today and some 38's and a 22 revolver.

On the top of my list are
M&P PRO 40
M&P 9
Glock 19

Ruger SR9C
Walther PPS9

I should go back and try some .380's but After 3 1/2 hours I got tired.

Fun though!

Re: Assessing hand guns

Yes to Bills I will go. I have never done this - you give your DL to the vendor - he checks out the gun to you - you buy ammo (at a high price) from Bills and get to shoot for free? Sounds OK . Just hope it isn't a long line to wait in like the toilets at the DOME. I understand about .380's non comp...

Re: Assessing hand guns

Solidguns - You bring a lot of good points. As my experience is with an XD(m) 40 - I am looking at a 9mm - and even some .380's (at a good friend's suggestion).

I do plan on taking notes on my assessment of what I look at or try out, noting the same points on each.

Re: Assessing hand guns

Can you get it in the house without your wife finding out? (Thunderjohn - you sound like you know me...) Well - Hoping to find one that she can shoot - and one that I can conceal... After she takes the "Intro to firearms for Women", I hope she finds something that she might like. That giv...

Assessing hand guns

I am planning on trying several handguns in a relatively short period of time. Points of interest as I can think of them are; besides caliber - and Price Feel - does it feel good in your hand? Can you easily get a sight picture. Conceal-ability - Trigger - check reset - trigger pull - clean or crunc...

Re: What shotgun should I get for 3 gun?

WOW - Well it looks like I won't be shooting 3 Gun - even for fun. Thanks for the instructional cartoon .

OK How about a home Self defense Shotgun? I don't want to cut up anything - just buy something that can be easy to handle.

What shotgun should I get for 3 gun?

I've heard Benelli, Mossburg - that you need 6 or 9 cartridge long tube...

Good thing I am not really pumped about this yet - I need some time to save my pennies and study.

Is a 9mm ballistics - in between 38 SP & 357 Mag?

Trying to find a carry gun, not set on a J frame or a small pistol. I have seen a 9mm J frame Revolver, and thought it might be a compromise. Other than that the Walther PPS9 feels good, Keltec PF9 and a couple others are possible. I also have a friend who has a nice S&W 640 357Mag that conceals...

Re: XD/XDM Owners Chime In!

Bought my first handgun when the chosen one got in office. After trying a few guns at Bills I bought an XD(m) 40. The long trigger travel bothered me a bit so I bought a Springer Precision trigger kit. Since then I got a BUG - an XD(m) 3.8 40. It made too much sense not to get it. Uses the same hols...
