Thank you for all the helpful replies. I forgot to mention this will be for mule deer hunting in California. Average shooting will be 100+ yards. I would like a decent used medium powered scope. Price range $1.00 to $140.00. And yes I am a cheap bastard!

Want to buy a scope to be able to handle 30-06 bolt action. Something with a good eye relief and can shoot up to 100-200 yards. Thanks!

Building a lower will save you money, same goes for an upper but it all depends on what you want and how much your willing to spend.
