Re: F-Class League - Elk River Sportsman's Club

I have an Ops Inc muzzle brake that is threaded on the outside, which has a screw on thread protector. If I had a sleeve made that threaded on instead of the thread protector to cover the brake ports, would that be legal in F-class? Ah, the inevitable gray area question. Generally, our league is ru...

Re: F-Class League - Elk River Sportsman's Club

atomic41, You are correct, muzzle brakes are not allowed in any Highpower competition (F-Class being a special variety of Highpower). Our league adheres to this rule. It is an unfair disadvantage to the guys who must shoot next to you. That said, it is a fairly trivial deal to remove a muzzle brake ...

Re: F-Class League - Elk River Sportsman's Club

A 20x Super Sniper would be a fine upgrade over a 2.5-10. I've never owned one, but they're not uncommon in our league. What I've heard is that they track pretty well, and OK optically. A good inexpensive way to get your feet wet. I would suggest 1/4 MOA clicks. Mils are fine, but are more in vogue ...

Re: F-Class League - Elk River Sportsman's Club

There are two classes in F-Class. F T/R and F Open. F Target/Rifle is for .223 and .308 cartridges only. F Open is everything else.

If your AR10 is a .308, you could shoot in F T/R.

16x or more would be a good upgrade. You'll soon wish you had more :) 10x is pretty tough at 600 yards.

Re: F-Class League - Elk River Sportsman's Club

Optics need to have enough magnification to actually see our target. 600 yards is a long way. Hey, c'mon Jon - you know there's still some of us out here that don't use any magnification at 600 yards! ;) Yes, and I can't figure out how y'all do it, especially as well as you do :) Eric brings up a g...

Re: F-Class League - Elk River Sportsman's Club

Can you play with a Deer gun? It depends on the specifics of the deer gun. Without the specifics of your deer gun, it's hard for me to say whether it would be up to it or not. Where typical deer rifles run into trouble are optics and barrel construction. Optics need to track well and have enough ve...

Re: Can you shoot on public land anywhere specific in MN?

I'm a board member at ERSC. We are not a commercial enterprise, nor do we ever wish to be. We are a private club managed for the use and enjoyment of our club members. Our club is administered and maintained by volunteer members who spend countless hours of their own time without any form of compens...

Re: F-Class League - Elk River Sportsman's Club

Will the 300yd match be a standard round count (20-20-20 + sighters) or is it abbreviated? Looking forward to joining this year as my freshman year in F T/R. CS, welcome! I look forward to seeing you there, make sure you introduce yourself. You're gonna have a lot of fun. The short answer to your q...

The only hard and fast limitation on caliber/cartridge are that of NRA highpower rules: No larger than .35 caliber.

Elk River Sportsmans Club

Starting November 1st, the Elk River Sportsman's Club will be accepting new member applications for 2013. See http://www.ersportsman.com/Membership.asp for details. The sticking point for new member applications is usually that ERSC requires new members to be sponsored. If you do not have a sponsor,...

Re: Gunstop West?

grousemaster, My experience with a half dozen or so gunsmiths is: 1) The good ones are always busy. 2) More than half are "grumpy", sometimes bordering on customer hostile. 3) They do their work on their own schedule. It's done when it's done. 4) Most have terrible communication habits (re...

Re: Testing new Long Range rifle.

That was the best thread I've read in a long time. EPIC FAIL. I need to come around here more often.

RAGGED, I owe you a beer at the legion next spring.

Re: Walmart resuming gun sales

It is not like remingtons manufactured for walmart are any different than the ones they make for your local gun shop. Don't be so sure. Probably not in this case, but it is very common for big retailers to negotiate special exclusive models (read "cost saved", or cheap) with manufacturers...
