Re: Bump fire stocks

I saw this coming from the instant that the bump stocks came to market. It was the closest thing to making the heads of anti-gunners explode.

Re: Glock 17 mos co witness

Very interesting. I seen alot of YouTube vids, none of them stated any failures. I will look in to it. I do know ppl have said thr rmr would fail on pistol so that why they came out with the type 2 rmr. It very surprising to me that vortex viper snd venom would fail even on pistol. I heard good thi...

AAR: Learning Firearms Patrol Rifle Marksman 21-22 JUL 2018 Learning Firearms Range, Brainerd Lakes/Breezy Point, MN Disclaimer: While this started as an AAR, this wound up being partially a technical document commentary on scope design and use. Sorry- that’s just how this went down. Wx: Day 1 start...

Re: Glock 17 mos co witness

I’ve seen multiple failures with the Vortex miniature red dot sights. This includes the Viper and Venom . It’s not a reliable optic yet. Numberous MRDS have a pattern of failures on pistol, and that includes the Vortex, Shield RMS and a couple other MRDS. As it stands, the Trijicon RMR and Leupold D...

Re: Long Range Endeavor: Tikka CTR or Tikka TAC both in 6.5Cr ?

I thought the 6.5 CM was designed more for the semi auto and .260 rem the better choice in a bolt gun? I think that it's a very minimal difference but that's the way I understand them. Also depends on if you reload or not, there's many more options in 6.5 CM than .260 in factory offerings. The 6.5C...

Re: Long Range Endeavor: Tikka CTR or Tikka TAC both in 6.5Cr ?

The TAC A1 and CTR are both punching half minute groups with factory match ammo in various training. Doc Spears of Forge Tactical LLC has been extolling the accuracy of the TAC A1. With respect to cartridge, I highly recommend your option of 6.5 CM. It’s one of the better cartridges out there for sh...

Re: Learning Firearms 2018 Training - Brainerd Area

It bears mentioning that our Patrol Rifle Marksman course is a scoped carbine course that is geared towards all students and is an open-enrollment course. It is a long range carbine course designed for people using LPVOs (low power variable optics) like the 1-4x, 1-5x, 1-6x and 1-8x scopes that are ...

Re: Point of impact pt92

I can also confirm the spotty nature of Taurus QC. Having said that, they’ve copied that gun enough times that they should still be able to be relatively accurate. As such, have another shooter shoot the gun, preferably from a rest/bag. The shooter is far more often the cause of issues and poor accu...

Re: Loctite on Scope Mount Screws?

So how would lapping hurt? Shaving precise tolerances set forth by a manufacturer can open the rings up too much or throw off the tolerances. Quality rings/mounts are already cut to a precise dimension to accommodate concentric 30mm, 34mm, 35mm etc. scope bodies. Lapping scope rings was something t...

Re: Loctite on Scope Mount Screws?

I tend to find lapped rings make a bigger difference than locktight in keeping large recoiling set ups from moving the scope. The manufacturer of all my mounts specifically says to not lap the rings. Really? Which manufacturers? ADM, Badger Ordnance, Bobro, Nightforce, GDI, Leupold Tactical (not th...

Re: Loctite on Scope Mount Screws?

Make sure to degrease all threads with either denatured alcohol or some other kind of drying degreaser.

I use blue loctite on all of my screws. And paint pen witness marks.

Re: Entry Level Semi-Auto Shotgun?

When I worked for Gander Mtn back in the day, we had a lot of die hard Stoeger owners. Inexpensive guns that ate anything they were fed.

Re: Slide work

Depends on what you want done. If you want extensive modifications and milling for an RDS, I would highly recommend Boresight Solutions or Robar.

Re: Offset BUIS or CoWitness

Put me down as another person against BUIS. You really don’t need them unless you plan on taking shots at running deer at really close range. If so, have at it and I would recommend that you use offset BUIS, aka RTIS/RTOS options (Rapid Transistion Iron/Optical Sights). Also, to address a comment ab...
