Geez, quit wasting your money on sissy-foah's of malt liquor and buy a Hornady #8 handbook, already! For 223 Remington with the 55 grain V-Max bullet with Varget powder, COL (Cartridge Overall Length) is 2.250" - 22.8 grains is listed as min at 2800 FPS, and 26.4 grains is listed as max at 320...

I too am going to be reloading some 223/5.56 55 gr vmax out of an AR. Im using a Hornady lock and load ap with the Hornady powder drop system.. I am going with H335 from Hodgdon instead of Varget. i think i got them from the guy you told me to go see haha. there was one table with little bags of bullets. he didn't have much. then i went to the next table and he had all sorts of calibers.

I got stole on 500 223 bullets. I looked at them and the few i looked at looked pretty good. They were $9 for 100 or $43 for 500.. so I got 500.... I got home and started looking at all of them.. and they were pulled bullets... So I wasn't wanting pulled 223 especially since i haven't loaded any yet...

i use the lee factory crimp die, that applies the taper crimp, your not suppose to use the roll crimp that the seating/crimping die puts on it.

Ive had great results. I don't put a tight crimp on it either just a light crimp, enough to close the bell of the case
