Re: Long chamber AR

The OP mentioned .308 and it's not as if AR10-sized rifles are really expensive or hard to come by, so why not just shoot a .308? Hard-hitting, decent ballistics, 1000yd + capable, reasonably cheap and abundant ammo and component choices, etc. Or, the Grendel if for some reason it must be kept with...

Re: Long chamber AR

You said: In my opinion, the Blackout is really only worthwhile if you can suppress it. Otherwise, it's just a slow and weak .30 caliber. Then I gave an example of a cartridge that is very popular, 7.62x39mm, which is basically never suppressed - to prove that your point made no sense. Then you avoi...

Re: Long chamber AR

If you are ok with an AR10 class platform, then 308 (or possibly 0.260).

If you want an AR15 size platform, then 6.5 Grendel.

Re: Long chamber AR

In my opinion, the Blackout is really only worthwhile if you can suppress it. Otherwise, it's just a slow and weak .30 caliber. Just because it suppresses well does not mean it is any less useful unsuppressed than anything else. It is more powerful than 5.56mm. From a 9 inch barrel, 300 BLK matches...

Re: 300 blackout; discus...

300 AAC BLACKOUT is the SAAMI approved standard version of the 300-221 Wildcat.

Remington is making a lot of ammo for it and about 45 companies announced products for it.

Re: 7.62x40 WT

Hello. First, I am project lead on the BLACKOUT, so consider I am biased. The 125 grain velocity Wilson states for the 300 AAC BLACKOUT at 2275 is probably what we will load 125 grain ammo to. It is a nice conservative number that I feel comfortable we can always make and stay within SAAMI specs of ...

Re: .30-AR vs. .308 ... both Remington, both 7.75 lbs

300 AAC BLACKOUT can make 320PF Major even in a 9 inch barrel if you use a heavy bullet like the 220 MK. With a 16 inch barrel, A1680 powder can push a Sierra 175 to make 330PF - 1900 fps at or below 55,000 psi. Yes, there is not a super flat trajectory, but there will be custom scope reticles to de...
