Re: Permit to transfer from private party to private party?

"Is it necessary to have a permit to purchase for private party sales when you know the person is legally able to purchase firearms?" Not always. That's strictly true, but somewhat misleading. If you know the person is legally able to purchase firearms, the answer is simply no, a permit i...

Re: Permit to transfer from private party to private party?

So if there is no paper work how does the gun get transferred out of your name? I'm glad I saw this post because I may be selling a pistol to a friend. Just so I'm clear nothing is needed? Thanks for the help. Assuming that you purchased it in Minnesota, it is not registered to you. This state does...

Re: Permit to transfer from private party to private party?

Most private sellers who do so ask to see a permit in order to minimize their liability and the likelihood that they're selling to a prohibited person. If you're shown a permit, you have good reason to believe that the buyer is not a prohibited person, though what's legally required for private part...

Re: question about ptp

I don't know if the "fill out the form and the dealer and wait for a week" method is actually used anymore, simply because the PTP method is FREE and less work for the dealer. Does anyone know of any dealers that have recently processed any sales this way? When I first moved to Minnesota,...

Re: Ron Paul Naysayers. Put this in your chamber and fire it!

The definition of faith that's relevant in this context is "belief in a proposition which has no supporting evidence". http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/faith http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/faith http://www.thefreedictionary.com/faith I'm the smartest guy on the forum. I do...

WTT/WTS .45 bullets - Gone

I have a box of 100 Hornady .45 (.451") 230 grain FMJ round nose bullets. The UPC / part number on the box is 45177. I received this as a well intentioned gift, but have no use for as I don't reload, so it's just sitting in my closet collecting dust. I'd like to trade this for an AR or AK mag o...

Re: AZ: ATF says no guns to legal medical marijuana patients

Legal alcohol use is a larger problem than illegal cannabis consumption. Sure, because the numbers are huge in comparison. ... However, if we legalized cannabis, it would likely make alcohol look like a walk in the park. No. If the percentage of the population that drinks was equal in size to the f...

The problem is that when your substance use affects others. ... Most drugs other than alchohol are quite variable in their ability to clear from a person's system. ... Re: Bill's Gunshop tokens

Pretty much exactly what Tim Warner said. I bought a pack about two months ago. They're fully transferable and still come in the drawstring bag. They're pretty handy for bringing a buddy along with you to share a lane, since it'll be $10 for the second person, as opposed to spitting the $30 evenly b...

Re: Will the MN state shutdown affect getting a PTP?

I'm wondering about the flip side of this thread . Would someone be kind enough to describe how the state shutdown would affect acquiring a permit to purchase? I live in the metro area, and was told when I submitted the paperwork at the police station that it would be "an unknown amount of tim...

Re: Shutdown Halts Mental Health Check in Gun Permitting Process

Is the shutdown of the mental health check valid grounds for refusing to issue or deny (e.g. simply not respond to) a permit to purchase application pending for more than the 7 day statutory limit?
