Last Saturday we managed to have six of us limit out on the river. We shot mostly mallards and gadwal but also weigon, green winged teal, and black...

Re: Deer Camp Traditions

Our deer camp has had a tradition of Kippered Snack and Oysters. I have no idea why. That and someone always brings up a new deer hunting video or two to watch.

I am looking for a few more magazines for my G23. If anyone has the extended magazines they would be willing to move I would be interested in them also.
Thanks

Re: Apprentice Hunter Validation

I have a quick question about the Apprentice Hunter program. According to the DNR website, you purchase an Apprentice Hunter Validation for $3.50 at an ELS vendor, then with that you can purchase a deer tag for the apprentice hunter like usual based on your zone? Is that correct? I've heard that th...

Re: MN Waterfowl Opener

Has anyone been seeing any flocks flying locally? I have a feeling I will have my limit of wood ducks within about a half hour of opener.

MN Waterfowl Opener

Is anyone else fired up to get out into a duck blind this weekend? Hopefully this cooler weather is pushing some northern birds out of Canada.

Re: New to hunting this year, field dressing grouse?

So i have done some research and have seen a few different methods of field dressing upland birds in general. Everyone says to field dress it ASAP or as soon as its dead and to get it on ice ASAP. If you are out in the woods ad not near your vehicle, then how long before you should worry about it s...

Re: New to hunting...

I was talking to a coworker and he mentioned deer hunting with handguns. Does anyone have experience with this? Or was he feeding me a line?? As a new hunter, you will want to use slugs or a rifle.... I was thinking the same thing. Especially if you are moving north into the rifle zone. I can see u...

Re: New to hunting...

What does everyone have to say about the Remington 870 magnum 26" shotgun? I like the wood stock. From the reviews it sounds like a decent gun for the money. Any pros or cons? Also, can a single sight be upgraded on that gun? Thanks again for all the input!!!! While I have nothing bad to say a...

Re: New to hunting...

The plan is to move in the spring. So I have some time to learn. I have been scouring the pages of the MNDNR site. I am planning on taking the safety course once I purchase the guns. Good call in the online courses. Gives me some prework to do. Thanks to all for the suggestions and offers. Vacation...
