Re: Lets talk about belts.

Can anyone recommend Twin Cities shops which carry a wide variety of either strong leather, or gun-specific belts?

Re: Lefty question

Never eaten brass off any rifle. M1 with no clip (slow fire) seems to throw about 1 case in 40 into a my face shooting lefty. Using a SLED clip will fix it, as will using an adjustable gas plug that barely cycles the action. AR15 with deflector is not a problem to shoot lefty, though you do get som...

Re: White Oak Armament, still nothing after 7 months...

I had similar delay for a complete CMP upper, though mine took a bit longer: I sent-in an order (on paper) in mid-December 2012; at the time, the website warned of a delay of several months (I think it said 8-12 weeks or 12-16 weeks, but I didn't write it down). I had heard on mnguntalk that they we...

OGC Gas Gun positions

I like to shoot 3P or 4P with open or peep sights.. Somebody at Oakdale mentioned that there is a "gas gun" competition using positions. Does OGC allow members to shoot in position? I've been there many weekends as a non-member, and had never seen a mat.

Re: Guns vs. cash

I would say that if you think your daughter might actually want to own/shoot a gun which you can buy for her now, but which she may not be able to buy later due to cost or laws, then go for it. But if the guns are a straight investment, she may find that she needs the money at a time when the guns a...

Re: Fleet Farm Mosin 91/30

It sounds like the metal ring which is embedded in the stock where the leather "dog-collar" passes through.

Re: 2013 Post 435 Service Rifle Clinic

After remaining pretty stagnant for a couple of years, there seem to be some new faces turning up again, which is great. Hey "Stagnant" is my middle name (I think it's German for "horse," or something). It is not uncommon to see new shooters improve by 50 points of more from the...

Re: 2013 Post 435 Service Rifle Clinic

Who won the woodtick contest BTW? I only pulled 2 of the little buggers off me last night. The Post 435 range has nothing on Chengwatana or Hinkley, in the woodtick department. I think I saw two ticks on the ground at the 435 clinic. By contrast, last weekend in Hinkley, I pulled three off my socks...

Re: Hearing Protection

I wear three brands of 33 NRR muffs at work: Pro-Ears Ultra 33, another brand of 33 NRR, and some "Walker's Game Ear Bone Collector" muffs, claimed to be 37 dB NRR  I don't think they're true C-Weighted 37 dB NRR, but they definitely perform better for me than the Pro Ears 33. I wear...

Re: Ammo Shortages

If this shortage winds-down like it sounds like '08 did, then there's not enough long-term capacity to justify a factory-building boom.

BTW, I noticed that everybody still has 7.62x54r in stock. I foresee a Mosin Bubba Build-Off in our future.

Re: Pulled over for the first times since having a permit

The police are not your friend even if they're helping you. They're kinda like the Russians in WWII. http://ts1.mm.bing.net/th?id=H.4675845922947572&pid=15.1&H=160&W=114 Seriously, as tman pointed out, some officers may feel more comfortable conversing unarmed. (...

Re: setting up a TRUST just in case

I was thinking that if all the Scary Boneheaded Rules got passed, and I was forced to register my Garand, I might officially give it to my son a few years earlier than planned.

Re: Does anyone even buy 20" AR's anymore?

My 20" White Oak Armory .223 Wylde, 1-7 twist, should be shipping any day now. 18-20 week wait. I've been looking at their stuff. I can only guess what the turn around time is now... I placed an order by phone near the end of January. This past week, I got an email Order Receipt, saying 20-24 ...
