Re: Oakdale Gun Club "OGC" Closure

They came up with about a 20k solution, which was declined by those responsible at the club as 'too expensive'. :?: I was told by the salesman who quoted the price that he had said $20,000 would get a site with requirements including a scheduling calendar, and that he was told when he called the cl...

Re: Oakdale Gun Club "OGC" Closure

I didn't see a functional scheduling website on the list of projects, and I remember seeing online scheduling would not be available again for 2020. I used to work at a software design firm, and was asked informally to see if they would bid on designing a website and attached software for the club. ...

+1 I agree

WAY too many ways to remain open, and they chose to be fuddies.

Very frustrating.

Re: Oakdale Gun Club "OGC" Closure

I have an unusual schedule and was planning to go to OGC on my days off midweek, to allow those who have to work the time to go on weekends. I was planning to maintain appropriate distance and not stay long, so having the club overlords choose to close it completely is disappointing. Are many (or mo...

Re: LGS observation.

The PD I work for in the western suburbs had more than 30 permits to purchase last week, about triple the usual amount. I suspect many of those will get a Taurus or Springer 9mm from Cabela's, but even a blind pig finds a truffle now and again, and maybe a few will buy Glocks...

Re: anybody heard, steel shoots 2020

Maybe we'll miss the April match this year not for snow but for corona. Hope not, but who knows right now?

Re: Pitted With Rust. How best to 'restore'?

Watch the YouTube channel Mark Novak, or Anvil, which used to be associated with C&Rsenal, another great channel. Mark is a gunsmith and did an episode on conservation of firearms, which I remember expressly did NOT involve any steel wool, but did involve boiling the gun with wood removed. Have ...

Re: Good place to find what a pistol is worth

Unfortunately, a used .40 anything will not bring many of the dollars. The fact that it's HK might make it worse; I'm not sure how hard it is, or if it's possible to rebarrel one of those, unlike a Glock 23, for example, which is pretty much drop in (I know, the extractor claw is different, but you ...

Metal Detectors at the State Fair

Sound like they'll be in use for Fair time only, partially in response to the shootings outside the front gate last year (which I don't recall involving permit holders, but knee jerk reactions are the best kind). I wonder if they would be used when there's a show at the Education Bldg or the Coliseu...

Re: need help question about a s&w model 67 no dash

The previous poster is right on. I would add you would probably get less in a direct sale to a gun store. You might get more on here dollar wise, or more value if you check out someplace that has used G17s and 19s and offer to trade straight across. They might not have as much in the Glocks as you t...

Re: Low stock at Frontiersman?

Went in there today; stock was mostly used shotguns. Few used .22s or ARs, unless they're in back. A few Maks and Toks, several .40s by major makers that are probably be police trade-ins. And one guy who must not have known any better buying some kind of brand new full side XD. The clerk was going t...

Steel Shoots and other ideas for 2020

No, Benny is not authoring this. Sorry for those of you looking for dates. My question was: Is there enough interest to have a Back Up Gun match to either replace one of the monthly matches, or to have a separate date for a BUG match. I brought an idea up like this a long time ago when I thought aro...

Re: Defensive handgun training

Wait until a nationally recognized trainer comes to Morristown or Monticello. Craig Douglas, John Farnham, someone certified to teach MAG 20 for example. The two AR courses I took at Monticello were good; from a fellow who was the Wright Cty sheriff's instructor. I do remember not being a fan of his...
