The few times I go to a public range, I'm more concerned about the guy in the next lane shooting me than I am about him shooting himself. I guess that contraption would take care of both possibilities.

I wouldn't use FMJ for varmint hunting for the same reasons I wouldn't use FMJ for deer hunting. As for the bullet weight within the range you mentioned, I would use the the that gave me the best accuracy. Not all rifles like all bullets.
That would realistically hold about 10 long guns, maybe. A few less if they were all bolt action rifles with scopes. The fire rating is 1/2 of what I would recommend. But....it is more secure than stacking them in the bedroom closet.
