Is the barrel threaded for a supressor? With a barrel that short, it would be great to put a can on it.

Re: Permit renewal question.

I was at the Hubbard County Sheriff's office earlier this week. No appointment. I dropped off my renewal paperwork and the nice lady told me I'd see my permit in less than 30 days. And for what it is worth, I did my course online but had to drive to the range to do the live fire portion. I took my c...

Re: Savage model 10 FCP HS

You got yourself a nice rifle there.

I picked one up a few years back when I was living in AZ. I found that mine likes a hand load of 175gr SMK over a load of Varget powder.

Re: How's The Deer hunting Going?

Took an 8 point buck a couple of days after the opener. It was late in the afternoon, about 30 minutes before sunset when he wandered out to feed and look around. My nephew got an 8 pointer on opening day. The bucks had been eating well all summer as they both had a lot of fat packed away. I used my...

Re: Grendel owners, chime in

After shooting the above two shots using my hand loads, I followed up with 3 rounds of Hornady factory ammo. While the rifle is nearly MOA with factory loads, it shoots much better with my hand loads.

Re: Grendel owners, chime in

Another successful deer hunting season with my 6.5 Grendel AR . :) About a week before firearms opener, my wife asked me if I had sighted in my rifle. I told her I hadn't unsighted it from last year. She told me I'd better check it since she didn't want to hear about it if something wasn't working c...

Re: Grendel owners, chime in

For what it is worth, 8208XBR has been some of the worst performing powder in my Grendel, albeit my barrel is nearly twice the length of your 12.5" so that is certainly apples and oranges.

Re: Building a dedicated 22 upper

And the S&W M&P15-22 runs just like a regular AR-15, the same operation for the safety, magazine release, etc. Training on it is cheap and muscle memory is 100% transferable to its big brother AR.

Re: Complete Grendel Uppers

Thank you for the generous offer. I appreciate it very much. It really would be neat to know just what kind of a velocity difference it would make. There is only one problem with my Grendel upper....when Alexander Arms built it, they permanently attached the handguard. One has to destroy the handgua...

Re: Complete Grendel Uppers

If you were to do it again, would you still go 24 inch or go shorter? Given I'm using this as a hunting rifle right now, and my longest hay field is right at 400 yds, I would probably drop it back to 20" or so. It is a little awkward in a ladder stand but still manageable none the less. In a g...

Guilty as charged....yep, that's me. :) A couple of years ago, I sold my TJ, retired from my job in Arizona, and moved back to Bemidji. I do have a 4WD tractor if that counts for anything. :D

Re: Complete Grendel Uppers

If you decide to use your Grendel for whitetail, you won't regret it, in my opinion. I've used mine the past two seasons and it more than does the job. I too purchased an upper to go with a lower that I had sitting around. I ended up getting an Alexander Arms Overwatch which has a 1 in 9 twist 24&qu...

Re: Long gun case storage ideas?

Stack them between the floor joists in the basement. A double gun case may not fit but the singles should be fine. Screw in some eye bolts and use a couple of bungee cords or a short length of rope to secure them.

Re: Let's see that venison!

First year in the field for the 6.5 Grendel AR. High shoulder shot....through the left shoulder blade, broke the back, through the right shoulder blade, what was left of the 120 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip bullet lodged under the hide on the far side. http://www.stu-offroad.com/temp/buck....

Re: Bolt or Semi Auto for deer

AR platform shooting a 6.5 Grendel. I switched over to it from an Ithaca .308 bolt gun after spending lots of trigger time with an AR-15. And it will also be my coyote rifle for this winter. And my wife can shoot it as the recoil is manageable for someone that doesn't like getting kicked.
