Thunderjohn

Have to give a shout out to him. My recent addition to the collection was the most pain free experience I have ever had. I will definitely be back for more when the time comes.

Re: 2 Weeks in the Cities

Inver is a great little city. I second the recommendations above that were not pranks. Oh, and that fabled house of fine arts that others refer to as the King of Diamonds.....I have been known to stop in there. It has never been a bad time :D

Re: New to me M1 from CMP

Awesome score. Making the trip to either the North or South store is on the 'things I need to do' list. I love my M1. I am often at OGC and if you ever want to shoot "dueling" M1's - drop me a line.

Re: Ammo at Bill's

My ammo buying hierarchy is this:

Practice ammo - Walmart and Fleet Farm in that order.

Carry ammo / hollowpoints - Streicher's is tough to beat.

Re: Cleaning semi-autos: Rod or bore snake?

Rod, brush and patches. I am a teeny bit OCD when it comes to cleaning.

Re: Here we go

Congrats, very nice. I love shooting my M1. Stock up on the loose HXP from the CMP. Not just saying that because of supply/demand, etc. BUT because once you shoot it, you will want to shoot it more and more and more..... :D

Re: Oakdale Gun Club and Elk River Sportmans Club

I am at OGC and have no experience with the other. I have had mulitple occasions where any given range is to myself and the guest(s) that I have with. The 18 hours of Range Duty in your first year can be great fun or a drag, you choose. For me, Range Duty during hunting season is awesome and a perfe...

Re: Night Sight Installation?

Bill's is the place to go. I brought my XD Sub and HK USP there and within 25 minutes I had both with brand new fancy night sights. Buy them there and they install for free. Call ahead though and talk to the gunsmith to see about what time is best to stop in if you intend to wait for it. That is wha...

Re: M1 Garand from CMP

Best experiences I have ever had buying a firearm/ammo/misc gear has been with the CMP over the last year. I bought a 'Special Grade" since I am most interested in shooting as much as I can. Plus, my boys love to shoot it too. A 'Correct' grade may be in the works in the future, but that will b...

Re: Good experience at Bill's

I've always had good experiences at Bill's. Just wish they would open a satellite location in SE Metro :D Dang it's a long drive from Cottage Grove. Took my permit class there too. Nothing but good. They used to have a store in Lilydale (Hwy 13, just off 35E). Unfortunately, the building it was in ...
