Re: Need help zeroing AR iron sights

It don't matter what you set your zero for if you can't see your sights. You said home defense weapon right? Get yourself a set of night sights, then zero your rile: http://www.gunaccessories.com/ar15/AR15nightsights.asp Not helpful - I've got what I've got right now, and need to make do with that ...

Re: Need help zeroing AR iron sights

Sight it for 50 yards. At 30 ft, you're only going to be a couple inches off (below) zero. For anything larger than a chipmunk, that's going to be more than accurate enough. If you are zeroed at 50 yds, and are using 55gr ammo (assuming 3,000 fps), you will be good to go with +/- 1" from point...

Re: Need help zeroing AR iron sights

My home defense ammo is Hornady TAP, 5.56, 75g BTHP @ ~ 2700fps. Does it make a difference?

(The question is not opening a debate on my choice of ammo, just on whether or not it makes any difference in sight-in procedure...)

1. If you want to debate ballistics data &/or the pros/cons of using an AR vs. Shotgun vs. handgun for home defense, please start a different thread...

Need help zeroing AR iron sights

I've never done this before, so I've got some questions: 1. The main purpose for this rifle is home defense, and the longest shot I could possibly take in my current home is about 30 feet. This leads me to think I should probably zero it at 25 yards? If not, what distance would be recommended & ...

Re: Binoculars for range use - recommendations?

A spotting scope is definitely on my list of "must haves", and I'm certainly not averse to getting one sooner rather than later. But I was hoping to spend in the $20-30 range, and as I don't actually own a pair of binoculars at all right now, I figured if binoculars in that price range wil...

Binoculars for range use - recommendations?

I'm looking for some binoculars I can use on a 100yd range to view 22 & 223 caliber holes in targets. I want to spend as little as possible - any recommendations?

Thanks.

Re: NRA RSO Class

What, no love for my cookies??? I know they weren't as good as China's, but c'mon - I baked 'em myself! ;) All kidding aside, the class was great, and I really enjoyed meeting everyone there. I hope to see y'all again soon! Which cookies were yours - the ones in the Cub Foods containers? I wouldn't...

Re: STEEL SHOOTS, the real deal (D - 19)

Another timing question - when do the shoots end? The work I'm looking for will probably be evenings, both weekdays & weekends, so my days will likely be free, but I may have to be back in the cities for work by 4, 5, or 6pm... Will this be possible? Again, thanks! -> nyffman, I'll probably t...

Re: STEEL SHOOTS, the real deal (D - 19)

At what time do these events begin? I'll be out of town (likely) for the April shoot, but am going to do my darnedest to make at least a few of the other ones.

Thanks!

Re: NRA RSO Class

I think it should be mandatory that China bakes cookies to bring to every event. Thank you China. I agree. I couldn't stop eating them. What, no love for my cookies???
