Re: 44 mag load suggestions

I don't waste Hornady XTP's with mild loads. When using a premium projectile, use a powder that fits the application. Use H100 or WIN296 at near maximum loadings in a quality revolver, rifle, or Desert Eagle. For cast bullets, I use Unique, Blue Dot, or 2400, with 2400 being my preferred powder. \ ...

Re: Striped Skunks?

I absolutely shoot skunks on site to. Reasons already discussed in this thread. My wife about killed me when we were driving a road back from her parents house and I made a quick stop off the side of the road , jumped out of the car and drew my 1911 down on a skunk that was parading around the ditc...

Re: 44 mag load suggestions

I took two deer last year with a 240 gr bullet movin about 1100 fps. Far from fast. Not quite a pass through but the XTPs did their job. I like AA #7. YOu can make pretty mild loads with that. I used the data straight from Accurate Arms.

Re: Striped Skunks?

Many years ago I read a study on game bird mortality or success. The study showed the in similar conditions such as habitat and weather, that racoons, possum and skunks are much harder on the game bird population like ducks, pheasants, grouse, etc. than fox and coyotes are. I read that somewhere to...

Not poor but it is cheap...

true. it's all relative. nothing in the shooting community is cheap, except hi-points ;)

Re: How do I decide on a reliable hand gun?

I like revolvers. That is just me. But if I were a women I would really like them. YOu can shoot them inside a purse. I just bought a Ruger LCR. Love it. Keep in mind, the smaller the gun the more likely you are to carry. I can shoot mine pretty dang well at 30 feet. Thats all I need it to do. I ha...

Re: Home owners insurance & reloading

I've got an additional rider on my policy to cover guns, ammo and shooting gear. I had to take pictures, videos, record SN's so I could prove what I had, but reloading specifically, never even came up. I do know that my presses are in the video they had me take. The thousands of loaded rounds poppi...

Hiiiigh Pressure

Anyone ever see primers back out of factory loads? My buddy gave me some brass for reloading. The loads were that cheap american eagle stuff in .44 mag. I couldn't believe it. Never seen it before, the primers looked like they were about to fall out of the damn brass. Never seen thise before on fact...
