Re: Things to Consider When You Buy a “Safe Queen”

Thank you for the words of wisdom. I mostly made this post to share my experience and let people know that even though guns are a good investment, you may get stung like I did when you buy a gun that was kept in a gun safe and not properly tested. I have a couple of safe queens that I only shot a bo...

Things to Consider When You Buy a “Safe Queen”

After reaching the ripe age of half a century, I thought I was experienced in the ways of gun buying. I did my own research, price comparisons and gun inspection whenever I considered buying a used gun. I must tell you, this isn’t an easy task living up here in Minnesota. A lot of people around here...

Re: Learning a New Round-308 Win Resizing Problems

crbutler wrote:I would be VERY cautious (read don't) resizing a loaded round.

Since the Body Die is not acting on the neck of the loaded round, I really don't see a safety issue with it. Baring some type of primer actuating debris on the shell plate, it should be safe, in my opinion.

Re: Learning a New Round-308 Win Resizing Problems

Thanks Jim,

Did you anneal the brass before resizing or after? I always thought annealing would harden the brass even more.

Learning a New Round-308 Win Resizing Problems

Hey Gang, I mentioned earlier this year that I was starting to work on reloading 308 Win. I spent most of March and part of April processing 500 LC 08 brass obtained from an online seller. After Cleaning, resizing, trimming, de-crimping, I checked the casings with a Wilson case gauge (See Below). ht...

Re: Made a shooting video

Good Deal, the guys at Forest Lake, MN3Gun and Hawkeye put on some great matches. Not that you need to compete to stay relevant. It is just fun to shoot scenarios and the skill drills with other people. It is a lot of work setting up stages and taring them down, but it is worth it for the semi-reali...

Re: Made a shooting video

Very Nice video. One question. Do you compete in IDPA/USPSA matches? You have the skills and the gear, albeit your gear is more tactical than practical for competition. Just wondering if I have shot with you at a match.

Re: Guns at the cabin

Thanks for sharing that story OldmanFCSA. If only our culture rewarded respect like it use too, we would be in a better place. I fear that our mutual home town in Dixon County, Nebraska may be my last bastion of hope for a retirement location. Minnesota/Wisconsin area is not what I was hoping it wou...

Re: Guns at the cabin

Bring them with you when you go and take them when you leave. You can keep an ammo cache there, along with other things that come in handy.

Re: Shooting ranges in/near the Twin Cities that you would recom

Your best answer is Beaverbrook Tri-County Sportmans Club. http://www.beaverbrook.us Initial membership fee is $170 for the first year. It is then $130 a year. If you put in 10 hours of work, they knock it down to $75. No indoor shooting bays, but they have 9 bays that you can shoot pistol/rifle/sho...

Re: Factory SBR Source

For quality, aesthetics, and CDI factor, I would go with Noveske.

Re: Trap shooting coaching tips?

You definitely have the fundamentals listed. The skill that sets most trap shooters apart is concentration and ability to focus. The ability to track a random target, get in front of it and squeeze the trigger at the point were the tracking swing and lead are optimum requires that concentration. The...

Re: Winchester primers on sale

Thanks for the post. I picked up 5K while I was there. Unfortunately I was unsupervised at the time and ended up spend way more than I intended.
It is good to see reloading components getting back to pre-Sandyhook levels. Now we just have to win the next election.

Re: .308 in a 7.62x51

The Hornady Book 8th Ed, description of the 308 Winchester Service Rilfe starts out that the M1A/M14 was one of the best know service rifles...

It also has an M1 Garand section right after the 30-06. I think this is what he is referring too.
