Re: Minnesota Gun Report

Neat! I passed over this thread the first couple of times I saw it. I thought it was just the annual report on carry permit stats.

mrp, I suggest adding podcast to the title of the thread.

Re: Long Range Endeavor: Tikka CTR or Tikka TAC both in 6.5Cr ?

I don't disagree with anything you just wrote.

I still maintain that the OP could "punch paper" at 1000 yards (on a KD range, I assume) and get by with just borrowing a chronograph after initial load development.

goalie, to each their own

This is the method I base my chronograph-less load tuning on: http://singleactions.proboards.com/post/185463/thread

Re: Long Range Endeavor: Tikka CTR or Tikka TAC both in 6.5Cr ?

I need to step back and assess my goal (ie FClass, PRS, etc.) ...Part of what made me rethink my course is when unfitmother asked me what scale I was using for reloading.....that's my next endeavor! What the heck, it's just time and money..... (I keep telling my wife, I could be going golfing, etc ...

Re: Long Range Endeavor: Tikka CTR or Tikka TAC both in 6.5Cr ?

Bergie, what scale do you use for reloading? I ask because I didn't consider how important a good scale is for long range shooting until recently, and now I wish I had budgeted for a laboratory-grade scale before buying a $700 spotting scope. I know that learning to read the wind will improve my sho...

I can't figure it out either.

I've never applied any filters to the map, I just look for the light green land that is state forest, look at the legend.

Re: Plinking in the woods?

I use the MNDNR's Recreation Compass map to find state forests where it's legal to target shoot: https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/maps/compass/index.html This is where I've gone to sight-in stuff before. No great parking or backstops (all my rounds were accounted for though) and often muddy... Screenshot...

Re: Gun Owners Rally @ The Capitol April 28th, 2018

I'll be up at Elk River Sportsman's Club for an F-Class wind clinic all day Saturday. Is there a hashtag or some other social media thingamajig if we all pose for a picture, or something? I'm not on any social media, but I'm sure someone there will be savvy, and I'm sure we'd all like to give our su...

Re: Grendel owners, chime in

If you're not reloading, I would not worry about it. If you are reloading, and have a chronograph, keep an eye on the numbers. But I still wouldn't worry about it, not with a 12.5" barrel. Anecdotally: certain barrels have a history of a velocity jump around 100 rounds. A quick search doesn't s...

Re: Tennessee college senior defends posing for picture with gun

Only a retard news outlet would consider this offensive along with the idiots who don't like this. What's up with the use of that description? Offensive. Probably meant 'retarded', which is defined in the dictionary as: "very foolish or stupid" I'm a little late to the party, I know... Th...

Re: Building an Aero Precision 308 from parts

So is the 308 carbine buffer tube the same as a carbine ar15 tube? BB & HH, you guys seem to have gas on your mind. Flatulence problems lately? TommyMN, there are multiple sizes, but one can use the same size buffer tube on an AR15 as an AR10. Because the BCG is longer for some long-frame ARs, ...

Re: "The Path Forward on Guns:" a proposal

I'll post this for anybody who got lost in the echo chamber. For everybody 1. Mass shootings are a media contagion. The press can help stop it with the same anti-copycat guidelines they already use for suicides. Even amidst the fractal squabbling that poisons this whole debate, there is one idea tha...
