Re: Actor Alec Baldwin Kills One Person, Wounds Another

According to Reuters "...the prop gun contained live rounds when it was fired, according to details of the police investigation into the fatal shooting released on Friday." I don't know who would think it would be a good idea to have any live rounds anywhere near these prop guns. https:...

Re: Actor Alec Baldwin Kills One Person, Wounds Another

A couple of years ago Ian McCollum interviewed Charlie Taylor from Movie Armaments group. Mr. Taylor mentioned that parts of a blank case can separate and come out of the end of the barrel and be dangerous. At the 12:00 minute mark, he shows the threaded adaptors they use to control the amount of mu...

Re: Source for M2 ball

It's been a little over 4 years since Oldman FCSA taught me the fine points of reloading. By far most of my reloading has been in 30.06 and almost exclusively using HXP brass. The link below shows that HXP brass has three little stakes vs the heavy crimp ring found on Lake City brass. https://ww...

Re: 16,000 Athletes in High School Clay Target League

I saw this on the #4 last night.

http://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2017/04/26/trap-shooting-team-picture/

It seems Big Lake H.S. won't allow the Trap Team to have their photo in the year book.

Re: Wideners

I believe that the owner (Stan?) Widener sold the business a year ago. You might have noticed the change to the look of the website last year. It used to be a brick and mortar store as well located in TN, the new Wideners is online only. The new owners also dropped the milsurp firearms. I bought my ...

Re: Handgun Photo Thread

I love those grips, are they factory or aftermarket? I'm pretty sure they are made by Ruger, they have the medallion on them. I picked them up on ebay, when I bought the Redhawk it came with Hugue rubber grips. http://i1308.photobucket.com/albums/s601/Sprouticus14/IMG_0181_zpsemloawzm&#...

Re: Handgun Photo Thread

I picked up this big fellow not too long ago, a Ruger Redhawk in 45 Colt with a 5.5" barrel.

Re: Bloomington planning commission

I saw this news report today.

The city counsel is meeting at 7 p.m. on the 21st (this Monday).

http://www.kaaltv.com/article/stories/S4323426.shtml?cat=10728

As usual, nice job by Rob explaining why this is foolishness.

Re: Mobile shooting gallery

Some of the guys at Rainbow Sportsman's Club in Cokato built one a couple years ago. They haul it out for the Spring and Fall shoots at the club. It's a double-decker affair, maybe 5 or long, and pretty heavy duty. It has larger targets on the bottom and smaller ones on the top level. Also the speed...

Re: Bolt or Semi Auto for deer

1948 Husqvarna Mauser in 8mm

I started hunting with an K98, and accumulated quite a bit of 8mm hunting ammo.

Switched to the Husqvarna, because it was drilled and tapped for a scope.
It was getting harder to shoot with iron sights on the K98.

Re: Need M1 Garand firing pin and a little gunsmithing

Most likely this is not the original bolt anyway. Garands had their parts swapped and been rebuilt a few times throughout their history. If you are going to swap bolts you will need to buy or borrow head space gauges. Here a list of bolts and their heat lot codes if you want to try and get one that ...

Re: antlerless lottery results

This is the explanation for the preference level from the DNR web site. Preference levels: Each year that you apply for an antlerless permit and don't get drawn for one, you earn a preference point until you are drawn. If you are a first-year applicant or a previous-year winner, you are a preference...
