Re: S&W 442 Performance Center Model

I haven't tested Smith's trigger jobs, but I will say factory 442's and 642's have crappy triggers and are hard to shoot. I'd spend the extra $60 on the chance that it would improve. If you're pretty sure you're going to keep it, $60 is nothing over the years, and you'll save all the hassle and rese...

Re: Thinking about a 1911 in 38 super.

What do you want to spend?

Baer will make 38 supers...

Since you already shoot USPSA, and a good 5 or 6 carloads of Minnesotans go to Single Stack Nationals every year, I'd think hard about a 45 or 40, but I am sure it won't be the last 1911 you buy.

Re: Lone Wolf: climbing sticks vs. sit-n-climb?

Fleet Farm in oakdale had sticks on sale last time I was there. Can't remember how much, but I was debating picking them up, they were a lot less than $200/4.

Re: Need a little help wtih M1 Garand

If it's all actually correct I wouldn't rebarrel it. If it doesn't shoot well and you want a shooter, sell it and buy something else. International Harvester made the fewest Garands of any of the manufacturers. Nice, correct IHC garands can sell for over 2K. IHC receivered mixed up guns sell for $90...

Re: MN Sectional

It's 8 stages, they are here: http://www.promesaweb.com/registro/brochures/USPSA/2011%20Courses%20of%20Fire.pdf I'd agree with Dan and say if you are brand new there are better uses of money. There are a couple nice things about the state sectional. 1. There are a lot of shooters from all over the s...

Re: Going prone at Oakdale?

It's probably something that should be addressed at a future meeting. RO's contradicting one another and inconsistent application of policies just looks bad and pisses people (read: paying customers) off. If you bring that up, tell them if they have 5-6 guys with 3-4 tokens each shooting trap, it's...

Re: Going prone at Oakdale?

There's a lot of variation out there from RO to RO. Just because something is safe, reasonable and not forbidden in the rules doesn't mean the RO will let you do it. I had a friend who went there on public hours and wasn't allowed to chrono. I imagine a lot of RO's would have let him, but the one th...

Re: How fast are you

I can pull 0.16-0.18 doing a bill drill at 7 yards. Controlled pairs I am rarely sub 0.2. I am kind of surprised Mike W isn't faster than 0.23, but maybe that's 10yrds vs. 7yds? I THINK I remember witnessing a .09 split at a match. It was a SCAPSA match prior to SS nats last year. The guy's shots we...

Re: Multi-tool

I have the caspian version and it is a POS. That one looks slightly different than mine (mine had no bit driver). It is made in china, the allen wrenches didn't fit anything, (although the small one can be used as punch). The blades/tools are hard fold out. The bushing wrenches aren't the right size...
