Re: 2 teens killed after allegedly breaking into home;

Just curious about cultural attitude- had the intruders been middle-age drug dealing gang-bangers with a long rap sheet, would sentiment about the victim be different?

Re: Re: 2 teens killed after allegedly breaking into home;

I know that deadly force is allowed to prevent the commission of a felony in one's place of abode. This does not make it right or moral in my mind. I will only use deadly force to protect life, never to protect property or to punish. This guy killed to punish these kids. Now we can't use lethal for...

Re: 2 teens killed after allegedly breaking into home;

This tragedy is simply that, a tragedy. Teenagers die all the time as a result of making bad choices. To lock this guy up to prevent him from shooting other future home invaders seems like a waste of money. In Texas, this would be a non-story. "Were they trespassing? Yes. Case dismissed." ...

Re: Re: What do we need to fear with the new MN Legislature

goaliemn wrote:you do know many people get married outside of churches as well...

Marriage is a governmental contract that grants 2 people certain rights. It doesn't have to have anything to do with a church.

I always thought marriage was a 'rite', not a 'right'.

Re: Gun Laws

Maybe so. I have discovered that a good lawyer can interpret the regs back where they were intended, and most small county prosecutors don't have the money to waste.

Re: Don't Cry Wolf

The right is trying to raise money by incentivising businesses to stay in this country and hiring people. If I don't go to work everyday, and pay taxes, the gov gets no money. Increased productivity is the source of higher gov income, not higher taxes. I didn't like Ryans plan to pay down the debt e...

Re: Inviting a Stop and Frisk through Open Carry

If you can't trust a man with a gun, you can't trust that man, in our society, and he should be removed.

Re: States leaving the union again?

Re: breadstain I agree with your concern. Secession is not just idle talk in Texas. They have long been very serious about it, so much so, gov Perry had to come out and tamp down expectations. Texas is the only state that can legally and financially revert back to it's own republic. On a funny note,...

Re: Don't Cry Wolf

Re: whiteox Rare to see honest opinion from the left. Refreshing. The unifying principle of the right is less government, not lower taxes. I wouldn't object to higher taxes to pay off the debt, I do object that both Bush and Obama done spent it all in advance. That there is a deficit, is just plain ...

Re: Don't think it can't happen here...

This goofy state charges $10 per carton for smokes under the pretence that all smokers will need public healthcare services. What a sham. I see no reason why they wouldn't follow suit with firearm tax. After all, there is a giant unfunded Union promise for public employee retirement benefits in this...

Re: Voter ID vs Carry ID

If you examine a primitive tribal system, the group may or may not let you share in the selection of a leader. Nothing you can do about it. But if they invade your cave space, poke you with a stick, put you in a cage, or try to stop you from speaking, you will INSTINCTively fight for the right, bare...

Re: Voter ID vs Carry ID

The legit answer to your question is that I don't know. Anything I read about the Fundamental Orders or Original constitution of Connecticut refers to it as being the first written constitution and was the basis of the Federal version. 'I was told' is a southern thing, a book can't speak. I also don...
