Re: 5.45x39 vs 5.56x45?

I am normally not against using corrosive ammo, but the DI tube on an AR would make me nervous. Having said that, I love 5.45, I have owned one AK chambered in it and it was even more fun to shoot than my 5.56 rifles because ammo was half the price of cheap .223 Lowers are the same, mags are differe...

Home Defense tactics/tips videos or articles?

What with all the events of late, I have convinced my old man back in CA to buy a gun for home defense. I want to teach him everything I know in person but that just ain't gonna happen. I tried finding good videos for the firearm beginner on HD tactics but haven't been able to find one that I felt h...

Re: Is anyone here in a militia?

If I recall correctly, California deems a "Militia" to be any group of 3 or more people that get together to train with weapons... so in theory I formed a militia on average twice a month ever since I turned 18. Oh, and militias are illegal under the CA consitution, go figure.

Re: Exaggerated prices, exaggerated panic.

Frontiersman had 3 boxes of .45ACP @ $28.00 for a box of 50 rounds, which translates into .56 a round before taxes. No way. I just paid .45 a round online and it wasn't the cheap PNY stuff, it was my favorite MagTech. I bought PNY ammo from my local walmart for $19 per box. I know the ammo isn't id...

Re: New Gallup Poll

The last three questions in the first poll make a lot of sense to me...there are roughly 100 million gun owners in the US so the roughly 30% opposed to gun control measures adds up. That second poll however is, in my opinion, more important than the first poll. If the question is stated directly to ...

Re: Kimber Handguns at Fleet Farm.

I have purchased 3 out of 4 of my most recent firearms from Fleet Farm, the most recent being a Kimber Custom II. The gun department at my local FF has more guns in stock than our local firearms dealer and the pawnshop in town combined and for lower prices. Not to mention that they had boxes of Winc...

Re: Exaggerated prices, exaggerated panic.

I find the funniest part of this whole discussion to be people's attention span. Everyone is so upset as if this hasn't happened before. I turned 18 mere months before Obama got elected for his first term. I had 3 or 4 months of old school prices: ARs for $600-800, AR mags for $10, 5.56 for a quarte...

Re: Russian AK at Fleet Farm

I have owned two Saigas in my time, one of them was the standard rifle stock model, the other was converted to AK style and modified to take AK mags. I loved the rifle, my only problem with it was that the mags were a little tight. Other than that, the rifles were great.

Re: Clip vs Magazine

I agree with ex-LT, people couldn't understand the term so we change the definition...sounds stupid to me. Its just one of those things that some gun owners can't avoid getting frustrated by. It just gets me when I'm at a gun shop and I hear "how much does that clip hold?" I have to stop m...

Some 1911 questions

I just recently bought my first 1911 (woohoo!) I have been a long-time admirer of the 1911 and have always wanted one but until recently couldn't afford one. I just picked up a Kimber Custom II and so far it is a great gun. For the $750 I paid for it, I am blown away by its fit, finish, and handling...
