Re: Anyplce where you can try rifles with different optics?

If you go with a battery powered optic, one thing to consider is the type of battery. The various optical offerings come with a bevy of battery types. The Aimpoints offer insane battery life. But the batteries are very, very expensive and not commonly found around town. Many optics from Eotech, Burr...

Re: Lead Level in Blood

The old mistaken causality, that is one to watch out for. Especially when dealing with anti-gunners, vegans, PETA types and just liberals in general. Fallacious arguments are great tools to trick simpletons. The CDC purports a study on a man from North Dakota proves that eating game animals increase...

Re: Looking for a FDE forearm

The midwest SS Gen 2 FDE is not real close to Magpul. I have two of them in black on rifle length and one mid length. I have the rifle length on a 20 inch barrel and it looks and works great. You can add rails to all four sides if you like. They just screw on. I prefer not to have a rail on the bott...

Re: New Rifle Excitement

11" Troy Handguard. I stopped by Atomic on Friday and there were 6 guys in the store. I only had a few minutes to pick up some stuff as I had to pick up my son at daycare. I had to run before I could get what I needed. I am glad they are busy, I will have to plan on getting there earlier next t...

Re: Bar Sto or Wolf Barrel ?

I have a wolf in one of my G22's. It is sometimes fussy with certain ammo. If I use certain brands it works 100% of the time. But I have had problems specifically with Remington UMC ammo. The lip between the bullet and case causes feed failures all of the time. The ammo works perfectly in the same g...

Re: Romney

Some key things the anti's need to look up - what the term "assault rifle" means (select fire or burst!). The difference between semi-automatic and automatic. The semi is not put there just for show. Finally guns that LOOK like guns made for the military are NOT the same thing. A Ferrari w...

Re: Dtech - scale of 1 to 10?

I would go with 6.8spc. With an AR Performance barrel. I use 6.8 it is perfect for MN deer and bears. It packs more punch than 5.56 and 7.62x39. But it is very nice to shoot.

Re: can anyone explain why BCM is good?

He got a Rainier Arms Raptor. He likes it. I gave it a pull and it seems good, but I have not really tried it out.

Re: Pheasant hunting with my Daughter

+1 on game farms. Even if you can only afford the minimum number of birds.

My sister went hunting with us once when she was 12. Bad experience out of our control. Wrecked it for her.

Re: can anyone explain why BCM is good?

Companies that get a contract to provide "x" product can fulfill that order by using whatever subcontractors they wish. The contracts usually have language indicating a % number of how many foreign parts can be included. Usually it is zero, but sometimes with higher end stuff like carbon f...

Re: Carcass disposal

If all else fails, your refuse contractor will most certainly take them. I use Veoilia and they told me put it in a garbage bag and put it in my trash bin. Just call your hauler and ask them how they prefer you handle it. You can bury it on your own land or leave out to naturally decay. But it is ag...

Re: Deer hunting

Opening rifle is the only time where wind and temperature really don't matter in heavily hunted areas. Hunters spook the deer and they will wander on to the next lot, regardless of the weather. Hopefully you are in a tree waiting. I try to be the first one in, that way I am already waiting with much...

Re: Mediocre Hunter

I would try to get a part time job helping a goose hunting guide service if I was 22 and lived in Rochester. That way you could get to hunt in the prime spots for free, meet a ton of fellow hunters, and earn a little cash to pay for gas and shells. Rochester has world class Giant Canada Goose huntin...
