Re: food plot 2013

Just thought I'd share some of the latest pictures from trail cam we have set up. We decided on oats, beets and some alfalfa. The beets haven't been touched yet, the oats and alfalfa seem to be the driving force behind their traffic.

Re: food plot 2013

This is the wife's first buck. She hit him with AR platform 5.56. We tracked him 150 yards into the neighboring swamp. It was amazing to see all the beds that were just a short distance away. As for the food plot, next year I plan on running some oats in tandem with brasicus and beets. Im not lookin...

Re: food plot 2013

I'm thinking of taking a little more softwood trees down in the spring to make room for a second plot of oats. I plan on setting it right on a commonly used trail where I've seen the bucks come out of. This way they will have a sustainable food source for most of the year, and will be in the habit o...

Re: food plot 2013

Yeah..... electric fences will come right after I put electricity in the hunt shack. Back to the oats! Has anyone had any luck with oats? I read that they are one of the more durable plants to grow vs. something like beens, and they are a better source of protein than other plants.

Re: food plot 2013

food plot 2013

Ide like to start some conversation on food plots. I have 5 acres in cheese land with a small hunt shack on it. My first year hunting the land I was skunked during rifle season. The next year I half acre plotted brasicus and beats. overall this helped tremendously, harvesting a buck and a doe during...

I got this fine specimen of summer sausage last weekend. We're on the way up North again to find her big brother.
