Re: ND, SD, WI gun bill status?

States trend more anti-gun as they grow big cities. Big cities attract a lot of people that don't shoot or hunt and often just look at guns as a criminal tool. When a state gets enough big cities it too goes more liberal. SD doesn't have any really big cities so it still has more conservative values...

Re: Once again, NRA stabs us in the back

The scary thing is if Harry Reid is out and the Dems still control the Senate, Chuck Shumer is next in line to be in charge.

I can't stand Reid and the things he says but replacing him with Schumer would only make things worse.

Re: Scope for a Handgun

I had a red dot on my Super Redhawk for a couple of seasons but I was concerned about needing a battery at the wrong moment. Also no magnification at all. I switched to a 2X Leupold and am quite happy with it. Not as fast to get on target as a red dot but I still like it better.

Re: NRA ad "*resident's daughters better than yours"

I wish I had saved the link and I haven't heard it reported since. My understanding is that the school that the Obama girls go to has 11 armed guards for the regular student body. The Secret Service is in addition to the normal guards. It's an exclusive school and has armed guards even without the P...

Fed up with this BS

I'm not a young guy any more. I was born in 1936 and grew up with guns. When I was a kid I could buy ammo for my .22 at almost any store, grocery, hardware etc. And I was only 11. I've watched this creeping gun control my whole life and seen the same political crap over and over. I've seen gun right...

Re: Should I refinish Commander?

I bought a new Combat Commander back in 1983. It hasn't been carried very often but has been handled and shot quite a bit since new. The finish has held up very well. I've heard that they can be blasted with soft media and clean up well. Depends on what those spots are though. If it's corrosion from...

Re: ground blind for deer hunting?

I use one at times on my own hunting land. No blaze cap but no other hunters in my area either. I don't think I'd feel comfortable in one on public land, blaze cap or not. I haven't hunted public land for many years but I have many memories of bullets whizzing overhead in some more crowded areas. I'...

Re: It's a conspiracy!

I bet they used the same mind control device that they used to crash Wellstone's plane. Remember that crazy story?

Democrats must have borrowed the machine from the Republicans.

Re: Another Tragedy

Where was the threat? It sounds like the girl was outside at the time. Calling 911 should be enough unless someone is smashing through the door.

Gives all of us a bad name...

Re: shoulder holster for SRH Alaskan

Man, you guys are doing the hard sell on those Simply Rugged Holsters. Got skin in the game? Nope, no skin, just a few years of comfortable carrying with a simple pancake that distributes the weight of a revolver well and also conceals well. They are not the most beautiful holsters in most cases bu...

Re: shoulder holster for SRH Alaskan

Here are two Simply Rugged Pancakes. The one on the left is a plain Sourdough for a Ruger Alaskan. It can be worn strong side or crossdraw. The holster on the right is an example of a carved Simply Rugged. As I recall it's called a Texas Pancake and this one is for an N Frame S&W.

Re: shoulder holster for SRH Alaskan

That Mernickle holster is pretty and great for open carry. If you want to carry concealed, a pancake like the Simply Rugged Sourdough is better. It pulls in tight and will conceal under a light shirt. I have 4 Simply Rugged pancakes for various revolvers and they all conceal well under a light shirt...
