Re: L5 Desert Eagle

The new stainless with the lower rail and integrated muzzle break is really cool. It does sound like they plan making 50AE version of the L5 also.

L5 Desert Eagle

Anyone get a chance to check out the new version of the Desert eagle that Magnum introduced at the SHOT show? It is a 5" version that they designed this to be under 50 ounces so it can be for sale in New York. There is a couple videos on youtube displaying it.

Re: Do electronics and gunpowder mix?

http://www.mnguntalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=49202 The pistol sells for $1,399 and the watch retails for another $399 — more than double the cost of .40-caliber Glock handgun, according to the article. Sorry, missed that thread. Thought it was an important topic. Besides for $1798 I'm pretty su...

Do electronics and gunpowder mix?

I am interested if anyone has opinions on the new push for "smart guns"?

Re: Don't Do This At Home!

You might well think that the catastrophic destruction of firearms caused by shooters leaving their cleaning rods inside their guns was a rare occurrence, but you would be wrong. It happens far to often
You mean there is more than a couple dumb ass's who have done this?

Re: Porting barrels

The first barrel took a little change of direction. 1/8" holes just seemed rather large for porting on this barrel, so i milled slots and turned it into a integrated compensator. I also free-bored the muzzle end of the barrel to prevent shaving any copper. Test firing will be conducted tomorrow...

Re: Porting barrels

Drill a pilot hole, then follow it with the end mill in the right size you want. Burr will be minimal. Use a mill to do this so it doesn't look like you were drunk aligning the holes. What are their barrels made of? Are they chrome lined or nitrided? It looks like FJ540 is thinking a little closer ...

Re: Porting barrels

Thanks for the input guys;I have a bolt on muzzle brake also. Just curious if could get the same results with an integrated brake rather than have an extra 1.25" added on to the end of an already large pistol. luckily enough I have a couple extra barrels to experiment with, I will check back an...

Porting barrels

I am going to experiment on porting a Desert Eagle barrel. All the videos that i have been watching pour lead into the end of the barrel to reduce burrs. Why not just drill or mill into the bore and hone out the burrs afterwards? Is there something I am not thinking about? I could even get in there ...

Re: Carrying in the cold with gloves?

I use nitrile gloves under fingerless ragwool gloves. Got good fingertip feel and not too bulky. Started using them for hunting and ended up using them all the time. Tips of the digits never seem to get cold; another benefit is I can use the phone without taking them off.

Re: What would you rather have?

Without a Doubt the DE, but I am very partial. You can shoot .50 AE with a barrel change or .357 Mag with barrel and bolt. Very fun to shoot, my favorite by far. Although if you do not have a wheel gun the 629 would be great. Every collection needs a big revolver. The .44 DE will not shoot specials,...

Re: MNSBC Crying about lossing gun vote

When I got home today, the T.V was on CBS news (thought the kids knew better than to have that garbage on-even accidentally). I was stopped in my tracks because of the story. Apparently our president flew the parents of slain kids from Sandy Hook into D.C to lobby for the gun bill he is pushing. I k...

Re: Does this look right?

Does anyone think this is a result of those evil corrosive primers? Heard stories of not cleaning after shooting surplus ammo. As far as the bore it is really amazing how beat up they can be before there is any issues. We have tested some seriously ugly barrels, mostly from bad broaches, that have s...

Re: Single stack vs single stack?

The only handgun I ever sold from my personal stash were 9MM's. One day we went out shooting at water bottles and they seemed to be performing the same as the Buckmark, recoil wasn't much different either . Just paid more for ammo. That was the day I became a .45 fan. Like the old saying goes "...
