I think the fascist government that we have elected has a lot to do with demand. The attacks on the 2nd amendment are accelerating. Yes, I believe the supply may be artificially depressed; the economy can't support the "apparent" demand. Companies may limit inventory, but it makes no sense...
Pat wrote:Interesting... I wonder what happened to all the equipment at the old TC Arsenal in Anoka? Anybody know what kind of license would be required to operate an ammunition plant?
Veldy and others... #1 Ammo makers are in the ammo business, and not in the component business. So, primers and brass are side line business not their primary source of income. Veldy you qualify as a new reloader, and now multiply your wants by a gazillion and now you see why there are no primers.....
Tumble clean and polish first and then deprime. I don't want to put all that grime through my dies. You can always use a tool to clean the primer pocket after the fact if it becomes an issue [so far, it has never been one for me].
Before you write them off Sam, try them for yourself. I along with several others here have had nothing but great service and great/fair prices on merchandise with Streichers. Although they sell used Police issued Glocks at about 80% of retail and these guns have probably had 10s of thousands or ro...
I figure it has to let up at some point. Even rimfire is getting tougher to find. I think no one wants to ramp up any production as they know the demand can't be sustained. It is clear it can be sustained. During the worst months of the current recession, demand has been at the greatest in many man...

Stopped by the Maple Grove Walmart this afternoon, and all the pistol ammo shelves were bare. So what's up? Anybody got a real clue as to why this ammo shortage seems to go on without end? One would think that the hoarders would at some point become complacent. I know I have mentioned this before a...
I used magnum primers because I have less than 1k of regular SP primers and was able to get 1k of SP magnums. I figured they'd be OK in the .38; I didn't want to use them for the .40's. I had to take whatever primers I could get, at least I felt that way when they were in front of me, the last box ...
Successful range day today! The 40's were great. Only 1 FTF from the Kahr PM40 and perfect performance from the Sig P229. I was very careful to be sure I had the 40 bbl not the .357 in it. The 38's even with the magnum primers seemed weak thru my Service Six, and not very accurate. Maybe I was just...
The Lee PM has good rep with stick/extruded powders, whereas it is known to suck with ball and flake powders. The old saying you get what you pay for. If you want the best of the commercial PM's the go see John about Redding BR PM....there is a combo with both small and large chambers. http://www.r...
I have been doing most of my reloading with the LEE PERFECT POWDER MEASURE and it works GREAT for most ball powder and pretty well for most flake powder (so far, it varies significantly for Unique ... but not dangerously so). However, I have one powder that jams the thing up solid. I have a pound of...
Gee, I had some Lyman 356402's left over from about 25 years ago when I was still poor and had to cast my own bullets to shoot! They mike out at .623" in length. Thanks for the info. I cast because I like to do it and because I shoot a lot, although I have 3000+ jacketed bullets of 124/125gr 9...
I think that they know they are going to sell it all, so they can afford to try and be fair about it. I think it is rather greedy for somebody to go in and buy 1000 rounds of an ammunition that nobody else can find. Buy one or two boxes and let others get a chance. Sounds like rationing to me. How ...
So, not really sure what board to put this on, so general it is. After reading about the teacher that called the cops on her student(s) for talking about guns, it got me thinking about my ultra-liberal teacher I've been writing pro-gun stories for. Now I may or may not carry on campus daily, this s...
