Re: Illinois lawmakers approve concealed carry gun bill

Based on 14, how would you sleep overnight in a hotel? I forgot to mention one other advantage of the new law: no preemption. Local laws like Chicago's magazine limit are no longer allowed. Section 90. Preemption. 3 The regulation, licensing, possession, registration, and 4 transportation o...

Re: Illinois lawmakers approve concealed carry gun bill

I skimmed through the law. No reciprocity provisions but does allow non-resident applications. Lots of off-limit places that make it pretty worthless for tourists, such as all public transportation. There is this part which is very helpful for those of us who travel through Illinois: 5 (e) Nothing i...

Yep. Lots of great ideas. As long as they're paid for with someone else's money.

Re: What IS the Actual Distribution of Wealth?

Since, if money is no bounds, people come to the US for their medical treatment, I don't think there is any half-truth in claiming we have the best health system. This too, is a laughable, just like Boehner's prattle. The best health care system for the rich is not the best health care system.........

Re: What IS the Actual Distribution of Wealth?

What country has the best steak dinner? If I had all the money in the world and I wanted the ultimate in the steak eating experience, where would I go? Whatever country it is, could you say that country has the best steak system in the world? Since, if money is no bounds, people come to the US for t...

Re: Simple Words From Robert Reich

The whole point of the Constitution is to meet the needs of the people of America......all of them. Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong. And you claim I have a simplistic, extremist view... If that was the point of the constitution, we wouldn't need a constitution. The following would be sufficient: ...

Re: Simple Words From Robert Reich

Yes, delegated to the people. And the people wanted health care--and they got it. "Delegated to the people" means the people have the freedom to do it on their own, not force the federal government to do it. If the people could just pass a law then this entire amendment is pointless. The ...

Re: Simple Words From Robert Reich

No, the Constitution does not say that our rich nation should should deny health care to poor people and their babies because they're poor and therefore subhuman. Actually, it does. It just doesn't word it as eloquently as you did. The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, ...

Where have I heard this line before? "Jeder nach seinen Fähigkeiten, jedem nach seinen Bedürfnissen."

I think your emoticon is waving the wrong flag.

Re: Simple Words From Robert Reich

What exactly is the job of government? It is hard to determine the correct size when the liberal philosophy tends to be big enough to do everything, including banning a folded piece of metal with a spring. It really IS a difficult question, although it should be framed as "how much larger"...

Re: Simple Words From Robert Reich

Interesting how you quoted almost an entire paragraph from me except the most important part: "Last I looked, 'creating jobs' wasn't in the enumerated powers of the Constitution." That's because it was actually the least important part. Hyper-zealous Constitution worship is not my religio...

Re: Simple Words From Robert Reich

Any debate of Austerity vs Keynesian ecomomics is pointless because they both assume that it is the role of the government to create jobs. Austerity arguments are simply that the government can "create jobs" better by leaving capital in the marketplace, while Keynesian assumes that the go...
