looking for advice on 3" 1911

But who knows, your shooting style and grip might work with them. I know mine didn't.

looking for advice on 3" 1911

Go with a commander sized 1911. I burned through a few 3"ers and my grip and shooting style aren't conducive to getting them to run right.... I wasn't going to change everything to be able to make a certain type of gun work.... I have a few commanders, and my new fave is a Sig c3 4.25". It...

1911 thoughts; maybe carry...

I had a Ruger commander. It ate everything and was reliable. It was a hog leg for ccw though. All steel. I went with a Sig 1911 c3 for carry and love it. Light, reliable, fun to shoot. It would be in your price range too.

Oops...this won't help my wallet.

Man gun? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk you know, the ever-running joke about .45 versus everything else? Ahhh got it. I was going to say, there are some women who make me look pretty foolish at the range with their 1911s. 1911s are addictive! Betcha you will want more. Sent from my iPhone usin...

newbie here could use some advice

Buying and selling or trading handguns is a great way to check out multiple platforms. This is absolutely correct. Done it many times. I haven't tried that with a Kahr or Taurus though. Only with mid to high priced handguns. They hold their value better. I am assuming you might take a hit on a like ...

newbie here could use some advice

Oh yeah, the people behind the counter know their stuff. If they can't answer you question they will get someone who can. A lot of ex LEO's. Good people.

newbie here could use some advice

It's a little farther than 60 miles, but I highly recommend Fleet Farm in Baxter/ Brainerd. New gun shop with a new range. A lot of range guns to try. Well priced ammo, not outrageously gouging. A well run range. They do have active range officers. Nice, clean facility with a nice lounge. TONS of we...

Why does everyone insist on MN PTC?

I have my MN PTC. I believe that if I went to Utah, I wouldn't be able to purchase a handgun there. Just my guess. Not sure what the OP's issue is. Law is the law.

New Shield

You will like it. I found my 9mm shield by calling around for 6 hours, driving to Walker (180 miles one way) and over paying by $100. But I have mine now and it was worth the time, miles, and extra $'s. at least in my eyes. I'm a little OCC so I am better off getting it done with, or it will be on m...

New Shield

Nice! I have a 9mm shield. Love it. Keep a decent grip on that .40. Take a look at Talon grips. Their rubber grips might help keep that little cannon under control. If you do talons on it, don't do the granulated ones. They make carrying difficult. Just a suggestion. Their an inexpensive upgrade too.

S&W MP 40c is turning into my favorite EDC

I currently carry a Shield and a SW1911 3" Lew Horton. I have had my 40c for a couple of months and have never had a malfunction through 800 rounds. I haven't liked the trigger. I will say that I did the apex striker block to it and it helped. Every time I shoot this gun, I like it more and mor...

First post - Thoughts on Kimber Solo CDP?

My first post on this forum. I had to register so I could say this. To say you won't shoot you carry gun much is wrong and I hope someone didn't tell you this was a good idea. It should be you most shot gun. Most people won't carry a gun until they have shot AT LEAST 300 rounds or more with no issue...
