Shotgun Dummy Rounds

How about a wood dowel of the right diameter and length. Drill some holes in the side of the dowel to add shot/sinkers to get the correct weight. Insert the weighted dowel into the hull and then use a small screw thru the primer pocket into the dowel on the head side, and then after crimping the hul...

Looking to borrow Redding or Wilson .290 or .291 bushing

I never would have believed that somehow the neck could get smaller than the bushing, but it is right in the FAQ's on Reddings site. I just can't see how it's possible, but they have more knowledge than I have, so I'm not gonna argue with Redding. If you have a bunch of cases to expand, you could ex...

Starting out Reloading

I have a GemPro 250, and other digital scales, as well as an RCBS (Ohaus) 10-10, RCBS (Ohaus) 304, and a Herters balance of some vintage. When weighing/trickling powder charges, I haven't found a time savings using a digital scale versus the balance. The GemPro is so damn sensitive, I think it regis...

Magnum Research

If you get up to Brainerd, go the Mills Shooting Center. That's where I got mine. Not sure if all fleet farms have them, but it'd be worth checking locally.

Re: Confused? Yes, yes, I am!

One thing that is kind of strange unless you think about it some is that handgun brass (actually anything straight walled, generally) usually shrinks when fired- I don't recall ever having to trim cases in a handgun, unless I am deliberately shortening them to get the same length for uniformity. 95...

Re: Confused? Yes, yes, I am!

I too have XTP HP. Ok seat to cannalure, I dont use a crimping die on .357, but, the Lee Seating die is supposed to crimp. OR,, should I use a Lee Crimping die also? I did on 45-70 govt? Lee makes the Factory Crimp Die, or what ever they call it, if that is what you are talking about. I don't use o...

Re: Confused? Yes, yes, I am!

Like JJ said, this isn't rocket surgery. The information in the manuals is just data, and every manual will contain different data, based upon the components and equipment they used in their testing of the cartridge. Hornady has 2 XTP 125 grain bullets in .357. #35710 is a hollow point bullet, and i...

Re: Confused? Yes, yes, I am!

Okay, I have a Lee 2nd ed and a Speer #14. The Lee has data for 125 gr .357 XTP and of course the Speer just has Speer bullets. What is confusing? Well, the Lee says,v-N110 starting @ 16.8 compressed and never exceed 18.4gr compressed for 125gr XTP. Nothing is said about using mag primers or not! S...

I won't be around Brainerd on the 3rd, so I wouldn't attend. If we postponed till the 10th, I'll be there.
