Re: Savage 99cd Series A - Loose Tang Safety Button /Thumb pc.

been awhile since I had one apart... but as I recall there is a screw that comes from below and connects a safety actuator bar(forget the real name.) to the bottom of the safety. remove stock to gain access and tighten. I wish that were the case on this one. Maybe some 99's were different but this ...

Savage 99cd Series A - Loose Tang Safety Button /Thumb pc.

I've got a Savage 99cd series A with a very loose tang safety button. It looks like there is a square shaped recess where some sort of square peg, wedge, or shim should be to keep the safety button from being so loose in the safety slide. Is there an actual part for that? I find no such part listed ...

Re: Dealer to transfer new suppressor from out of state?

seems as though there are more and more people who aren't on our side... Well yeah, seems that way to me too but an undeniable FACT is there are more and more gun owners out there too and maybe, just maybe they will want a neat accessory like a suppressor for their new gun (a goodly number of guns ...

Re: Dealer to transfer new suppressor from out of state?

I've chosen to read very little of this thread, because I'm stuck in a non-moving grain line, the coffee is fighting back, and I also have suppressor angst. If there is a Hybrid 46 on a shelf somewhere send it to my dealer! Biden and buffalo horns for 2021! Keep your powder dry, seems as though ther...

Re: Mauser Model 1896 "BroomHandle"

what I've been able to find out that I didn't know is that the serial number suggests the production was 1932-1934. At least a little bit more to figuring our what I have. At one time I thought the MPLS library maintained the Blue Book of Gun values within a year, if you could reserve and get that ...

Anyone else have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Darn, other than an appraisal/auction firearms house, not sure.

Re: Mauser Model 1896 "BroomHandle"

Reviving this old thread to see where i could get a valuation of this firearm. You've awoken some ancient beings here. :bravo: Back when I lived in the Cities, my boss at the time had a few old revolvers he had value questions on. I actually emailed the Bonhams auction and appraisal company. It so ...

Re: Test loads in March fine, but July raising firing pin dents?

I doubt you would be dealing with a carbon ring at 50 rounds, but maybe you have a rough spot in the lead of the bore. A good cleaning would be a good first step. I'd recommend a good scrubbing with some JB Bore Paste. If you still have problems after a good cleaning and switching primers, I'd star...

Re: Test loads in March fine, but July raising firing pin dents?

There's 2 causes for cratered primers. one is over pressure, the other, and more common, is an oversized firing pin hole. As long as your charge weight of 4895 is below ~43gr, I don't think that'd be the problem. Are you getting any kind of dimples on the case head? 2 suggestions before you do anyt...

Test loads in March fine, but July raising firing pin dents?

I've got a Patriot Ordnance 308 Edge SPR I'm developing loads for. An odd thing for me happened this afternoon. I began testing for this rifle with Sierra 180gr Pro Hunters on IMR 4895. Loads only 2/3 the way up the Hornady manual powder charge range was where I stopped at that time, and no pressure...

Re: .22 LR

Yep, ordered three boxes, got the email today about the 1 box limit and oh by the way they are now sold out. Good thing I still have a few bricks to shoot up. Benny Same. They back ordered one box for me. Sending me another 325 box for $20 or so too. It's still a ripoff for what .22 ought to cost. ...

Re: .22 LR

The inelastic demand is what put us in this mess to begin with. (Agree with you)

It is also why varmints now die via a 240gr ball of .44 lead from a '94, instead of a .22 :)
