Re: Starting out Reloading

So I started measuring out an pouring powder last night, I was using the pocket digital scale. Piece of junk. I was trying to use 3.8gr and it wouldn't even stop at 3.8, went from 3.7 to 3.9 every time. I'm not risking life and limb on that thing, went and bought a RCBS 505 scale and I'm going to us...

Re: Starting out Reloading

I hate to be the negative one, but if not too late I'd exchange the kit you bought. Right now Cabelas has the Rockchucker Supreme kit on sale which includes a much better press and scale. Might even be better to hold off on buying a press at all until after taking a class. The RCBS Explorer kit I b...

Re: Starting out Reloading

Well I guess thats good to know. I'll just clean my brass then and not worry about depriming first.

Re: Starting out Reloading

For now I'm going to deprime and clean all of my brass and then go from there with sizing, priming, and loading. I find it works out better to clean the brass and then deprime it; that way, you don't end up with cleaning media getting stuck in the flash holes, which you then have to remove later. B...

Re: Starting out Reloading

I don't shoot much, but I find the idea of reloading fascinating. It involves 2 things I like. Math and near immediate sense of accomplishment. That being said, would it be ridiculous for someone that doesn't shoot much to get into the hobby of reloading? Not shooting much is subjective. If you don...

Re: Starting out Reloading

So I just got back from Fleet Farm. I got the shell holder I needed. But they have no powder that will work for me. I'd like to use Accurate #5 but we'll see if I can even find any :(

Ohh well, I'll start de-priming and worry about powder after.

Starting out Reloading

So I was at Cabelas and I was going to cheap out a get a small hand loader and some supplies but my wife told me to just get what I could use for a long time. I picked up a RCBS Explorer Kit, cabelas vibratory cleaner, hornady 9mm die set, a box of berry's 9mm 124gr RN, and CCI 500 primers. I didn't...

Re: S&W 986

Nice looking gun, of course it's not even on the same level but I have a Taurus 905, 5 shot snub 9mm. I like shooting it, it's a neat idea to have a semi auto cartridge in a revolver.

Re: .22TCM

Yeah, I had the same problem with the mag, with both calibers. I read that other people did as well. Someone described some fix for the mag but I didn't mess with it. Any chance you remember where you read about a fix? I almost wonder if it's the slide lock/takedown lever/whatever you call it, caus...

Re: .22TCM

Yeah I didn't like the cheapo grips. I got the Hogue wraparound and with a little dremel action near the plunger they fit fine. It's a lot of fun to shoot. And save that brass! Well, just got back from the range. Only shot 9mm for right now. It shot well, still getting a feel for it and only shot 7...

Re: .22TCM

Did you get this pistol yet? How do you like it? I picked it up yesterday, cleaned it up last night and I'm just getting ready to head to the range. Over all so far happy with the gun except for the grips, they look like a blind man made them. Extra material all over the place and just overall low ...

Re: Banned FFL Handguns Transfer/Sat Night Specials

win_fcs wrote:scartetvw, What is the reason that you never use CCI mini mags? Is it strickly cost or is it some other reason?

Can't find em, I have a couple hundred mini-mags, but I've also got the bulk packs so I just shoot bulk usually. I guess I've kinda just been saving the few CCI's I have.

Re: .22TCM

Also if you plan to reload, well I'm no expert but I can always serve as a bad example. Thanks again to Oldman for helping me. I have success with the reloads now. It's a fun gun in both calibers. Be careful with aftermarket grips. It's based on the Para 14 frame, not a strict 1911. Some tweaking o...

Re: .22TCM

So I put a deposit down on a 9mm/22tcm just like your rodentman. Now I need to go get my ptp renewed and pick up my pistol. I'm pretty excited. More or less looking forward to the double stack 1911 9mm more then anything.

Have you tried the 9mm barrel? If so how did it shoot?
