Re: Newby reloading 'kit' for various calibers.

Go see the OldmanFCSA - he has all kinds of equipment to use. He recently showed me a Redding T-7 turret press with a Dillon case activated powder measure on it. He used cases that were SS Pin tumbled cleaned after sizing and de-priming. He was priming with a handheld Lee tool, put in press, added p...

Re: .223 Rem Streaks on Brass

Okay, are we talking about resizing .223 brass that was fired in an HK chamber with the grooves in it to hang onto the case, or resizing Golden Bear steel cases by mistake?? No Sam. Its the small pieces that bond to the inside of die body and scratch all other brass that goes in and out of die. I h...

Re: proposed powder change?

This powder thing is STUPID, the same rumor was about primers a couple of years ago.

OP = WHY spread this rumor? Is the Forum too slow lately?

Re: Savage Arms 111 hog hunter

My son who lives near Houston, hunts hogs there with a 223 AR with great success.
He got two last weekend, said it was boring and would rather be hunting whitetail deer in northern Minnesota, except that it was warmer in Texas now.

Re: Tool marks...

I would leave it alone in case it was clear anodized.
If anodizing is removed, the aluminum will oxidize.

Re: MWCA - State Fair Grounds - April 20-21

Was helping the OldmanFCSA getting things together for display on Matt's Firearm's table. Final tally came to about $9K of personal inventory he will part with this time to help pay for wife's treatments. A nice 50CAL rifle was included in the mix of stuff. Be sure to stop by and help Matt sell his ...

Re: crimping when reloading

Ask OldmanFCSA, I'm sure he knows about this.

Re: full size vs small base rcbs 223 dies

I asked the "Oldman" about this. He said if you have "Forward Assist" you don't need it, but must clean the rifle and brass to eliminate problems. He said he uses both dependent on which rifle the ammo is intended for.
Seems logical to me as explained by Oldman.

Re: New Guy with Questions

So the old guy at the Oakdale Gun Club wearing camo green overalls and a Leupold hat who told me about this site and said something about "Oldman", turns out he is my neighbor across my cornfield. Said he was wondering when I would make the connection. I helped him install his outside wire...

Re: New Guy with Questions

Thanks for the Welcome.
I think I'm going to like it here on MN Gun Talk, if I don't get banned for my beliefs or mistakes.

Re: Carry Ammo

Goalie, I know someone who has Hornady 124 and 147 grain XTP's of I think were 9mm on his shop bench. Should I ask him if he can spare some? I am considering asking him to teach me how to reload as he says he reloads everything he shoots, but mainly big rifles. He has one rifle that makes a god-awfu...
