Re: Quick confirmation of diagnosis - F2F / 20" AR15

I have 2 20 round aluminum mags and had issues with both similar to your issues and the first thing I did was what hoot said,I replaced the followers with magpul ones and have not had an issue since. No issues with GI 30 rounders or 10 rounders just the 20's for whatever reason.

Re: LR-308 Build

If those targets are 100 yds, I'd be question what is going on 2 of those 3 groups are huge. This was the first time shooting this rifle with a $50 Tasco scope at 100 yards. 2 shots were just too hit paper, the shots in the middle were dialing the scope in and the 2 on the bottom left were the last...

Re: LR-308 Build

I would have left the end of the handguard open to aid in barrel cooling as I did not see any holes or slots in the handguard itself. Hoot I get a lot of people telling me that but when you are bench shooting I don't believe the barrel gets hot enough to be concerned with heat but I plan on borrowi...

Re: LR-308 Build

And finally the almost finished project. I have yet to put a good quality scope and decide whether to Duracoat it or anodize the aluminum parts and melonite or teflon coat the barrel. If anyone has some neat ideas, please post them in this thread. I have a very open mind, and would like to do someth...

Re: LR-308 Build

The last pic is showing the target crown at the end of the barrel and then now the construction of my handguard based off of some DPMS style carbine handguard blanks. These blanks are knurled in sections and I took 3 handguards, cut them evenly spaced as to make them look like one handguard and tig ...

Re: LR-308 Build

The next step was to turn the barrel from a Green Mountain Rifle blank. I did this in my lathe, taking it slow as to not overheat the barrel and create warpage. I decided not to do a muzzle break and to do a rifle crown on the end of the barrel with the plan of adding a muzzle break later if I am no...

LR-308 Build

This is my first LR-308 build. I started off with a Tactical Machine 80% lower, a 25" Green Mountain Barrel gunsmith blank, and some pieces to make the handguard with a little ingenuity. The first thing I did was mill out the 80% Tactical Machine lower using my Bridgeport mill without a jig, ju...

Re: WTB side charging upper and BCG

Yup the DPMS oracle I think they are called, I see them on JSE surplus website from time to time. I just picked up a LR-308 one that I will be doing a side charge to.

Re: WTB side charging upper and BCG

If you have access to a mill or good quality drill press you can do the BCG mod yourself, and you wont have to spend a million bucks on these overpriced ones you see online. On the upper however that's another animal. I have been working on a A3 upper milling down the FA and brass deflector and figu...

Re: Firearm picture thread?

This is my most recent build, it's a take on a LR-308.
I did the barrel from a blank and made the handguard (sorta) and a 80% Tactical Machine lower.
I need a proper scope and I have not decided on a finish yet.

Re: Ar 9mm

I like the pistol ammo running through the AR platform and my main reason is because you can. I have an AR pistol I have been building that shoots 45acp and when that gets completed I plan on starting one in 9mm running the DI system on it as well.

Hello from St. Paul

Hello everyone, New to the forum but not to guns. I look forward to checking out some posts and getting involved where I can.
I am a big fan of the AR in many calibers and the 45acp is my favorite round.
