Re: Mechanics of "Red Flag-Gun Confiscation" law

That's a brilliant analysis.

It so often helps when you spell out what would be involved if an idea is put into law.

Looking for carry renewal

As the headline implies, I need to renew my Minnesota carry license. (My wife does, too) I live in the Red Wing area. The last time we renewed, we had to go through what amounted to a complete ab initio introduction to carry, and although I admired the instructor's thoroughness, it was a much bigger...

How to defend yourself in church

The Star Tribune passes on this wisdom from the Washington Post under the headline "Training helps churches prepare for violent attacks" Among other things, you can use one of "those little pencils in the back of each pew. . .to stab the gunman in the neck." Yes, that would work....

Re: "Best" Handgun for Women

I stand corrected.

Looks uncomfortable, though. I wonder if she can go through a whole day carrying like that.

But it certainly is do-able, and I stand corrected.

Re: "Best" Handgun for Women

CC for women is extremely difficult, except for huge, chunky women wearing big jackets. That's for on-body carry. If a purse or fanny pack is allowed into the equation, no problem. For guys (like me) who wear jeans and usually have a lot of crap in the pockets, no problem. But I defy anyone to show ...

Re: Armed intruder shot by homeowner in Pine County, sheriff's o

Just a guess: Same delightful human being, but one of the news reports is wrong about his age. Also noteworthy: Dresses like 1940s gangster, has straight and gay porn on his Facebook page. I take comfort from the fact that, no matter what horrible thing I might ever do and be arrested for, I can nev...

Re: Armed intruder shot by homeowner in Pine County, sheriff's o

What kind of a name is Gypsy Watts? Best guess: The name of a kid whose parents were unplugged from the real world. They would not have been actual gypsies, just two nitwits who thought it would be a cool name. Remember the Olympian named Peekaboo? Nitwit parents again. Possible coincidence -- a 19...

A modest proposal

The public would be well served if we of the shooting community were to take the simple step of providing marksmanship training for gang members. Many innocent lives could be saved. One merely has to glance at the newspapers or television to see that innocent bystanders, even children, are periodica...

Re: Incident at Bills Gun Shop

Finger alongside the cylinder and exposed to blast from the barrel-cylinder gap? Been there, done that. When I was a stupid kid of 16 I did that with a J-frame Smith .38 Special. It stung. It left a sooty mark. It did not do any serious physical harm. The soot washed off. So, if somebody lost a fing...
