Re: Slug Gun for petite shooter

Thanks for the thoughtful replies. I had considered getting a wood stock for the youth model Benelli that I have so that I could cut it down to size for her. I believe the polymer stock that came with the gun is already as short as it can be. Recoil didn't really bother her, but for safety and accur...

Slug Gun for petite shooter

Two weeks before Deer Hunting my 20 year old daughter (who has never hunted, nor held a weapon of any type) e-mails me to ask, "Hey Dad, can I go Deer Hunting with you?" My immediate answer was "YES!" After consulting with other members of the hunting party we decided that she sh...

Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifle Magazine length

Goalie,

2.881" is the official measurement. According to the reloading books here in the bunker, that should accomodate any bullet weight commonly found in nature.....now, if you plan to defile Mother Nature, lets talk....

Re: Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifle

Goalie,

I don't think the magazines are much longer than standard .308 loaded round length. I can check and get back to you.

Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifle

I orderd a Burris Scout scope and some Warne mounts. Should have a range report in the second week of March. I agree that .223 wasn't going to meet my needs. I have been waiting for a rifle like this with a detachable magazine. Since I reload I did'nt really want a semi auto pitching my brass into t...

Re: Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifle

I have decided to mount a scout style scope on my Gunsite rifle. Question for you guys regarding brand preference. I have bought Leupold scopes in the past and been very happy. The leading contenders for the scout scope I will buy for this rifle are the Leupold and Burris. I am not familiar with Bur...

Re: Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifle

H&H, I paid around $775 through Discount Gun Dealer. The rifle comes with Butt Stock spacers, ONE 10 round magazine, bases and rings for mounting a scope, and a lock. The rifle is both light enough to carry as one might for deer hunting, and heavy enough to mitigate recoil for a smaller shooter. ...

Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifle RANGE REPORT

I finally got a chance to take the Ruger Gunsite rifle out to the range. I chose not to mount any kind of optics at this time. All shots were off a bench rest. I have ordered a Ching Sling for the rifle but it has not arrived yet, so I opted to shoot offhand another day. I arranged targets at 25, 50...

Re: Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifle

OK Gent's, I took the bait and ordered one of these. I got it the other day and have had a chance to fondle it, but have not had it out to the range yet. My initial impressions are... 1. It's solid and not "to light." Some have posted concerns about recoil, which I think are going to be un...

Heartbreak at Gunstop today

Another possible motive by the seller is that by selling to GunStop he gets the peace of mind knowing that gun went through an FFL. He does not have to hope that the transaction/buyer is legitimate. Seller gets to wash his hands and walk away with cash. I have been reluctant in the past to sell hand...

Re: Wild West trigger and "Bear Proof" ejector

I was a C-hair away from ordering one of these off Davidson's this afternoon. I had to restrian myself. After the Holidays I will most likely fall victim... You can hook me up with all the fixes. Sweet.
